AIPGMEE 2015 Counseling Round 2: Over 1500 new candidates allotted seats

A total of 1531 MD/MS/Diploma seats have been allotted and 2068 seats upgraded in the AIPGMEE 2015 Counselling Round 2.  The result for the second round of AIPGMEE 2015 Counselling was declared by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on April 16, 2015.

In all, 672 candidates had resigned from their allotted medical colleges after the first round of counseling which, surprisingly, also included 6 AIPGMEE 2015 toppers. Also, 892 seats were cancelled after AIPGMEE 2015 Counselling Round 1.

According to Dr.Bipin Batra, Executive Director of National Board of Examinations (NBE), 31040 candidates had participated in AIPGMEE 2015 counselling Round 1 for around 5,500 MD/MS/Diploma seats under 50 % All India Quota, excluding Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

Candidates who have been allotted seats in Round 2 of Counseling will have to report to their allotted institutes between April 17 to 27.  The table given below carries some important highlights of AIPGMEE 2015 Counselling Round 2.

Preferred MD/MS/Diploma Branches among top 100 of AIPGMEE 2015 Counselling Round 2:

In MD, General Medicine branch emerged as the most preferred programme among the top 100 candidates in with 35 candidates opting for it. General medicine has been followed by Paediatrics with 15 candidates and Obstetrics and Ggynaecology with 7.

44 Resigned Seats in Popular Medical Colleges 


A total of 44 candidates resigned from their allotted seats from 5 popular medical colleges of India.

The graph below shows candidates who had resigned the allotted seats despite of allotment against their rank in AIPGMEE 201 5 Counselling Round 1.  


Dr. Bipin Batra, Executive Director of National Board of Examinations (NBE), shared that in AIPGMEE 2015 as many as 31,040 qualified to participate in online counseling for All India 50% quota seats based on cut-off for different categories of candidates.


The All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE) 2015 is conducted by NBE annually for admission to post graduate medical programmes across India. AIPGMEE is conducted for admission to 50% All India quota seats of MD/MS/Diploma in various Government medical colleges of India except PG Medical Colleges of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir. Besides, in 2015 the AIPGMEE result is also being used by 10 states for filling up their 50% State quota seats. 

In addition, some large institutions such as Armed Forces Medical Institutions, University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal are also using AIPGMEE 2015 merit for filling up seats in their respective institutes.
