Careers360: Congratulations for the AIR 7 in AIPMT 2014. How did you make it?
Akshay: Thank you. It’s my first interview. I would like to thank my mentors, especially Mom and Dad who were there all through my preparation.
Careers360: What were your overall scores vis-Ã -vis section-wise scores?
Akshay: I scored 155 out of 180 in Physics, 330 out of 360 in Biology and full marks in Chemistry. So I scored 665 in total out of 720.
Careers360: That’s so good! You scored 180 of 180 in Chemistry.
Akshay: Biology was an easy take for me. Physics and Chemistry were quite interesting for me as always. I had an inclination towards Chemistry and it paid me back.
Careers360: Did you expect that you could score this much and hold an AIR?
Akshay:Honestly speaking, I didn’t. I only practiced and performed to get admission in a good medical college.
Careers360: When did you start all this preparation?
Akshay: Just after having my 10th Boards, I opted for Biology and started preparing for AIPMT. My Mom practices gynaecology, so obviously I was motivated by her to choose this field.

Careers360: Share your preparation strategy for the most sought after medical entrance exam?
Akshay: I used to wake up early morning at 6:30 am and take an hour to plan meticulously for the entire day. I believe that planning is necessary to reach a perfect goal. I studied the entire day with short breaks in between and, generally tried to finish it all by evening 6:30 pm in the evening. If it was needed, I would put some extra hours after 6:30 pm so that I was able to finish whatever I had planned for the day.
Careers360: Given the effort you put in. Didn’t you feel bore and tired every day? What did you do in between to relax?
Akshay: No not at all. I didn’t feel bore because I took every subject as an interesting one, even if I had to go through the same chapters again and again. Yes, when I felt tired, I took naps, which I call ‘power naps’ to get ready to prepare again.
Careers360: What were your activities other than studies? Which are your favourite games? Tell about movies.
Akshay: After I had my daily studies, I entertained through watching the wildlife programmes at National Geographic Channel (NGC) and Discovery Channels. I like playing football and tennis but I had to abstain these after 11th as I understood that I had to sacrifice these for the sake of AIPMT 2014. Today I am happy that it paid me back. Yes, sometimes I also did yoga as my mom tells that it helps in rejuvenating body and brain and when I had to study so much I always took the help of yoga to relax and calm my preparation pressures.
I don’t like watching movies. They only entertain you and do not disseminate any information and knowledge.
Careers360: What about social media? Are you on FB, Google etc.?
Akshay: Sorry, but I deactivated all these after 9th! I only use Whatsapp. I used the application to discuss doubts and confusions from my friends and mentors, teachers, etc.
Careers360: Your future plans as AIPMT 2014 Result has come?
Akshay: I am just waiting for AIIMS Result. There after I will choose the best, whichever I get. After my MBBS, I have a keen interest in surgery but, at present, I am not sure which specialization I will take.
Careers360: Your message for upcoming AIPMT aspirants.
Akshay: I am not so much competent to advice but still I would only share that make a plan and follow your plan accordingly without lagging, without feeling bored or anything else. Practice well till you reach your goal. Follow the tortoise and not the rabbit. Please involve your parents in your preparation. They are the one who will stand next to you always. Our parents are always there to guide us. They can never go wrong.
Careers360: All the best Akshay for your bright future. Once again congratulations for the success.
Akshay: Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity!

Your seat allotment depends on your rank, marks, category and preferences. You need to score the minimum cut off marks to get seat in a college. The cut off marks changes every year depending on total number of candidates appeared, difficulty of exam, number of seats available etc. In 2019 a candidate with 325 marks belonging to SC category secured seat in Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellur, Mandya. So, you need to score above 372 marks because cut off may increase or decrease in 2020.

Can i get admission through management quota as if i score 250 marks in NEET 2020, i belong to general category from Rajasthan....
As per the recent notification by the neet conducting authority, they have allowed management quota based admission for their MBBS program.
Their are certain requirements as per which you will be granted admission through management quota, These are :-
All general category students in order to secure management quota should have 50 percentile and a score of 137 out of 730.
You are suppose to check requirements under management quota of the state you are applying in through their official college website because different state medical colleges have different management quota policy.
BAMS college without neet exam admission
As per your query I would like to tell you that as per the Ayush ministry notification which was passed in 2018 and confirmed that all the admissions to Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) courses will be only through NEET entrance exam.
So, aspirant you cannot get a seat in BAMS if you don't appear or score minimum required percentile marks in NEET.
hope this helps.
ALL THE BEST.
Iam from general category. What if i score 230 marks in NEET 2020....am i able to get admission in Mahatma gandhi medical college jaipur???? Im from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan... please reply
The cut off in 2019 for Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur was 470 marks for general category under 85% state quota counselling. Considering previous year cut off marks you may not get seat in this college with 230 marks. You need to score above 470 marks to have decent chances of getting seat in this college as cut off may increase or decrease depending on total number of seats available, total number of candidates applied, previous year cut off etc.
