Excerpts of Interview

Careers360: Few weeks are left for AIPMT 2015. What preparation plan and strategy do you suggest to the students in last days of AIPMT 2015 preparations?

Shailendra Maheshwari: As few weeks are left for the most coveted medical entrance exam, i.e. AIPMT 2015, students should now start with their revision strategy. Students should not start a new topic now rather should focus on revising the old topics. This strategy will help them in strengthen all the important topics.

Candidates must keep in mind the following points while preparing for AIPMT 2015 in the last remaining days:

  • Read your class notes which you have prepared during your classroom sessions

  • To understand the basic concept of the question, read the important derivation carefully

  • Learn different assumptions and conditions associated with different formulas

  • Don’t cram. Try to understand the reason and basics behind every statement

  • Do not waste time in writing the theoretical statement on paper again and again. Rather one must learn to understand the logic behind it

  • Revise the entire syllabus with a vision. Don’t read entire theory again and again

  • Practice and solve as much questions as you can. Try to understand the logic behind the questions you have attempted wrong

  • Prepare a study schedule and stick to it aggressively. Your study schedule should also include activities to make you relax

  • Proper time management and developing a strong problem solving strategy with accuracy is required to score more in AIPMT exam. The remaining days are for revision of all important chapters, topics and solving as many as mock tests.

Careers360: What do you suggest for AIPMT 2015 subject-wise preparation in the remaining three weeks?

Shailendra Maheshwari: As three weeks are left for AIPMT 2015, I would suggest the following subject-wise plan for AIPMT –

Theoretical Questions related to Modern Physics are too easy and has very less calculations therefore students of biology must emphasize on that

In Heat and thermodynamics majority of questions are of P-Y graph or principles of thermodynamics which are easy to solve

First solve direct formula based questions of any topic

In case of question of lengthy calculation, first try to solve them through approximation or as per options

Physical Chemistry:

Try to practice Numerical based questions

See NCERT Examples and exemplar questions

Give more Emphasis on  Class 12th topics

Inorganic Chemistry:

Give emphasis on Chemical Bonding, Co-ordination Compound

Study NCERT Exemplar questions

Solve Previous year AIPMT papers

Organic Chemistry:

Read thoroughly- Name Reactions and Stereo-Chemistry

Study carefully Bio-molecules, Polymer and Chemistry in everyday life as per NCERT

In Chemistry sub option based question, Graph based question and Match the Column based question may also be asked.

Students must prepare Diagrams, Charts and tables given in NCERT books.

Read Exemplar problems

Prepare flow chart for Mechanism of Physiology for quick revision

Cover Full syllabus of AIPMT

Careers360: What books would you suggest to the Medical Aspirants for preparation in this final phase of preparation?

Shailendra Maheshwari: Students should not start a new book at this time of preparation of AIPMT 2015 exam. However, students should refer to NCERT Books, Class notes made by them during classroom sessions for quick a revision. For better understanding, student’s can also offer to DLPs (Distance Learning Programmes).

Nowadays, full syllabus study material, chapter wise test series, topic wise test series and mock tests are also available online. Students should attempt as many as test series and mock test to check their level of preparation and focus more on those topics which they have attempted wrong.

Careers360: How mock test, sample paper and practicing previous year question paper can help students for preparation in last one month?

Shailendra Maheshwari: Students must keep in mind that competitive exams are those exams where you have to compete with your peer group as well as with yourself. Therefore, practice plays a vital role in competitive exams as more you practice more you will be able to enhance your exam taking skill and examination temperament.

The same goes for Mock tests, after taking a mock test, you should analyze your overall performance critically so as to check which topics are your strengths and which topics fall under your weak areas. Students should devote time to convert their weak areas into their strengths.

Sample papers and practicing previous year question papers gives you a fair idea about the exam pattern and helps in improving time management skills, question solving ability with speed and accuracy.

Careers360: What are the important topics for Physics, Chemistry and Biology that you think students must focus on to perform well in AIPMT 2015?

Shailendra Maheshwari: Every topic is important from AIPMT 2015 exam view point. By now, students must have completed their AIPMT 2015 syllabus and must have started their revision for the most coveted medical entrance exam. However, there are some important topics which students should prepare thoroughly as most of the questions may come from these topics.

Following is the list of most important topics of each subject, which student should study and revise well:

Heat and Thermodynamics, Waves, Optics and Modern Physics

Ionic Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, GOC, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Polymers, P Block, Chemical Bonding

Human Physiology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Genetics

Careers360: What changes in strategy should a student need to bring in preparation in the last one month?

Shailendra Maheshwari: Following are the changing plans that students need to incorporate in their revision strategy:

  • Make a proper and fixed routine for revision sessions. You should not keep waking up late at night. Take proper sleep and revise with calm and composed mind

  • Check solved examples to understand the basic concept of the problem

  • Try to solve as many as questions on regular basis to gain your confidence level

  • Try to expand your best of knowledge and make every effort to solve tough problems

  • Learn the formulas first and then try to solve the questions without any panic or stress

  • Take help of your teachers, experts and seniors to understand the difficult concept or topic

Careers360: How should a candidate prepare himself/herself for the D-Day or the exam day, as lot of students get nervous and lose concentration on exam day? What would you advise to ensure that they feel confident and give their best shot during the exam?

Shailendra Maheshwari:The following are the suggestive measures to do the best in AIPMT 2015 exam and convert your knowledge into success:

Do’s for AIPMT 2015:

  • Students must check their examination centre one day prior so as to avoid last moment rush

  • Fill all the necessary information correctly such as roll no, name etc

  • Read the questions paper carefully

  • First solve all those questions  which you are confident about, followed by the less confident ones and lastly the difficult ones

Dont’s for AIPMT 2015

  • Don’t panic about the exam preparation

  • Don’t study anything new

  • Sleep well,  don’t oversleep

  • Don’t be in hurry to solve question paper

  • Don’t use pen where pencil is required

  • Don’t start with the difficult questions first

  • Don’t jump here and there sequentially solve easy questions first

  • Don’t be in too much hurry while filing the answer as one mistake of your leads to one wrong answer

  • Don’t waste too much of time on one question. In case of lengthy calculations first use approx. method

Careers360: Any other message you would like to share with the AIPMT 2015 aspirants?

Shailendra Maheshwari:

AIPMT 2015 tests the student’s knowledge as well as basic concepts of the subjects. Hence, this becomes very important to have an exam taking strategy for AIPMT. If you can handle the exam pressure with calm and composed mind, then you can definitely perform well in the exam.

Just follow your dream and achieve success with new vigor! All the Best!

Can i join agbsc collage by writing NEET only ??And what are the cut off marks for it???

Arya 18th Nov, 2019

Hi Anita,

For a B.Sc. in Agriculture, you do not need to write NEET. The admission to this course, which basically focuses on agricultural sciences, is decided on the  basis of the candidates' score in AIEEA which is conducted by  the  Indian Council of Agriculture. For eligibility to this examination, one should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Mathematics as the compulsory subjects. Some of the best colleges for Agriculture in India are:

  • Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana
  • Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbature
  • Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar

This is a four-year course and the average salary of a B.Sc. Agriculture degree holder is Rs. 6.74 LPA.

My parents are from Kerala working in UP. I am born and brought up in UP, studied xth and xiith in UP and have birth certificate from UP. is a domicile certificate needed to apply neet 85% quota in UP?

Naveen Meena Student Expert 18th Nov, 2019

Dear aspirant, you don't need any domicile certificate for applying to 85% STATE QUOTA. As per the rules any student who has completed 10th and 12th from UP will not be required to provide domicile certificate during counselling.

Your 10th and 12th marksheet are proof that you are permanent resident of this state so there's no need to provide domicile certificate.

All the best

Hope this helps
