Careers360: Now that only six months are left for AIPMT 2015, what kind of strategy do you suggest students should follow so that they can balance their Class XII board along with AIPMT preparations?

Mr. Maheshwari:The subjects (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) are same for board exams and AIPMT. So, students need not panic and give their best to perform well in their board exams first. Candidates should be conceptually strong so as to able to write the answer as per any exam pattern. As compared to AIPMT, board papers are more theoretical in nature and need explanation, derivations, diagrams. Besides, it also has some numerical-based questions. Candidates are advised to follow the below mentioned tips for AIPMT 2015 preparation.

  1. If a student is taking coaching then the coaching institutes usually takes care of both Board and Pre-Medical preparation. Students must incorporate a teaching methodology that includes coaching for Board preparation as well as competitive exam.
  2. The subjects are same so a student should not panic and practice for his/her Board Test papers so as to secure good marks as well as write entrance test papers as per board pattern.
  3. Candidates should be conceptually strong so as to able to write the answer as per any exam pattern. Board papers are more theoretical in nature and need explanation, derivations, diagrams.
  4. From February onwards focus should be on writing the exam as per board pattern where formula is simple - must draw diagrams wherever possible, follow a pattern for explanation, write steps for derivation and be relevant.
  5. A time table is must to follow and should be made according to the weight-age of subject topic. One should give more time to topics having good weight-age and bit tricky for chapters which are difficult to understand.
  6. Before setting the time table collect relevant information about the weightage of the topic by analyzing previous year sample papers
  7. One should strategically understand the pattern of examination and how to write the test paper, last year papers must be solved. Candidates are advised to revise NCERT books for concepts. Important Derivations and formulas should be on finger tips
  8. Don’t refer same topic with various books as it is merely wastage of time
  9. Prepare Short Notes, Diagrams and Ready reckoner side by side for revision of important topics.

Careers360: You interact with a lot of students on a frequent basis. What are important topics for Physics, Chemistry and Biology that you think students must focus on to perform well in AIPMT 2015 and other medical entrance exams?

Mr. Maheshwari: As per a competitive exam point of view every topic is important as there is no set trend. But still following topics seem to be important and must be mastered thoroughly:

  1. Physics: Heat and Thermodynamics, Waves, Optics, Modern Physics
  2. Chemistry: Ionic Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, GOC, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Polymers, P Block, Chemical Bonding
  3. Biology: Human Physiology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Genetics
  4. Attempt AIPMT 2015 sample papers
  5. Develop synchronization between speed and accuracy

Careers360: Please suggest some important books for Physics, Chemistry and Biology that are very important and help the AIPMT aspirants prepare in the best way.

Mr. Maheshwari: Again NCERT Books, Class Notes, Sheets or Study Material of Coaching institutes or some renowned publishers.  These days, online material and test series are also available to students in nominal rates.

Careers360: What could be the possible level of difficulty as compared to last year? Do you think that AIPMT 2015 will be easier than AIPMT 2014.

Mr. Maheshwari: Generally examiners set a balanced paper and there is no set rule of being easy or difficult. Considering the level of competition and preparation of students it should be of good level. Though there is no parameter if you have prepared well nothing is difficult.

Careers360: What should be the key areas to play in this AIPMT 2015 exam?

Mr. Maheshwari: Again, there is no set trend but on the basis of experience we can suggest subject wise tips which a student should follow:

1. Theoretical Questions related to Modern Physics are too easy and having very less calculations therefore students of biology must emphasize on that.

2. In Heat and thermodynamics majority of questions are of P-Y graph or principles of thermodynamics which are easy to solve

3. First solve direct formula based questions of any topic.

4. In case if any question is of lengthy calculation then first try to solve through approximation or as per options.

5. You may solve Career Point’s Full Syllabus Test papers to cover the entire syllabus effectively

a.      Physical Chemistry:

1. Try to practice Numerical based questions

2. See NCERT Examples and exemplar questions

3. Give more Emphasis on 12th Class topics

Inorganic Chemistry:
i.      Give emphasis on Chemical Bonding, Co-ordination Compound

ii.      NCERT exemplar questions

iii.      Previous year AIPMT papers

Organic Chemistry:

 i.      Name Reactions

ii.      Stereo-Chemistry

iii.      Bio-molecules, Polymer and Chemistry in everyday life as per NCERT

In Chemistry sub option based question, Graph based question and Match the Column based question may also be asked.

e.       Career Point’s Full syllabus test papers are recommended.

c.   Biology:

For Biology students must prepare Diagrams, Charts and tables given in NCERT books.

a. Exemplar problems

b. Prepare flow chart for Mechanism of Physiology for quick revision

c. Cover CP Full syllabus test papers which are precisely designed to cater the need of  AIPMT by expert team
d. Focus on following topics:

1. Physics: Heat and Thermodynamics, Waves, Optics, Modern Physics

2. Chemistry: Ionic Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, GOC, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Polymers, P Block, Chemical Bonding

3. Biology: Human Physiology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Genetics

Careers360: Any other message you would like to share with AIPMT 2015 aspirants?

Mr. Maheshwari:  Students should take the exam with full confidence without any panic. Don’t take stress just enhance the speed and accuracy and compete with your own. Try to better your performance by analyzing your performance from test score. Due to fierce competition the chances of getting selected seems low in first attempt but the trend says that those who topped in Pre-Medical exams are fresher students. One should try to get selected in very first attempt else don’t lose heart if you want to be a Doctor don’t hesitate for second or third chance even.

Careers360:   How should a candidate prepare himself/herself for the exam day-as a lot of students get nervous and lose concentration? What would you advise to ensure that they feel confident and give their best shot during the exam?

Mr. Maheshwari: Following are the suggestive measures to do the best in the exam and to convert that knowledge into success relatively better:

Do’s before and during the exam on the same day

Don’ts before or during the exam on the same day

Must check your examination centre one day prior so as to avoid last moment rush

Don’t be panic about the preparation

Must be sure about the examination centre in case having 2 or more centres or schools of same name

Don’t loose your patience and confidence

Just revise the major formula’s and short notes

Don’t see anything new which you have not seen before

Be Calm and confident

Sleep well,  don’t oversleep

During Exam

Carefully read the instructions given of question paper

Don’t be in hurry and read it carefully

Fill all the information correct, roll no, name etc

Don’t use pen where pencil is required

Read the questions carefully and mark right, cross and circle as per the level of difficulty

Don’t start with the difficult questions first

First solve all those questions in which you are confident that is those marked right, then those marked with a circle and at last the crossed ones.

Don’t jump here and there sequentially solve easy questions first

im a ward of Central Govt staff trasfered to Kerala, I studied X and X11 in Andhra and my parents are native of Tamilnadu , can I apply for NEET councelling on 85% state quota on all the three state

Manisha 22nd Feb, 2020

Hello medical aspirant

state level counselling for 85% seats will be organized separately by the respective state authorities . Candidates appearing for NEET 2020 and clearing NEET cut off required by the RESPECTIVE COLLEGES can apply for admission in that college through counselling.

But as you have mentioned about three states, these all three states are open states where students from other states can also do counselling and get  MBBS seat.

you can participate in counselling 2020 of three states ie Kerala, Andhrapradesh and Tamil Nadu.

But conditions are applied for different states which are as follows

(1)  Kerala - If you will appear for neet from Kerala or you have domicile of Kerala then expected cut off for  general category is  447+ , for obc is 366+

cut off will be higher for non domicile students ie 493+

(2) Andhra Pradesh - it is also open state where other state students can apply.

for non domicile students fees will be higher ie 13 lakh per annum and cut off  287+

(3) Tamil Nadu -  for non domicile students fees  willb higher ie 10 lakh per annum and cut off 300+

what is the cutoff marks for neet bams in govt ts colleges for category OBC(NCL).

Srijika Bhattacharyya 22nd Feb, 2020
The cutoff for general category requires around 400 marks for government college and 360 marks for semi-government college.
Hope this helps
