NEET Cutoff 2020 - National Testing Agency (NTA) has lowered the NEET 2020 cut off for BDS courses. As per the judgement by the Supreme Court (SC), NEET BDS cutoff has been lowered by 10 percentile, which can be checked below. The BDS cutoff of NEET 2020 for general category is 40th percentile, while for SC/ST/OBC, it is 30th percentile and for General-PH, it is 45th percentile. While NEET 2020 cut off scores for General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD will be announced soon. NEET cut off 2020 for BDS candidates has been lowered after the petition filed by Harshit Agarwal. Medicos must have secured NEET minimum qualifying percentile and marks to be considered qualified for MBBS/BDS admissions. Earlier, NEET-UG 2020 cutoff for AYUSH courses reduced by 10 percentile. Earlier, NEET MBBS/BDS 2020 cutoff was announced along with NEET result on October 16. NEET cutoff 2020 for general category is 720-147, for SC/ST/OBC it is 146-113. While, for general PwD aspirants, NEET cutoff scores are 146-129, and for reserved PwD category, it is 128-113.

Revised NEET cut off 2020 for BDS - Released

As per the order passed by the SC led by Justices L. Nageswara Rao and Krishna Murari, the cutoff of NEET 2020 for BDS courses has been reduced by 10 percentile. NEET BDS 2020 cut off has been revised due to filling up 7,000 vacant BDS seats the nation. While, NEET 2020 cutoff revised scores will be announced soon by NTA. NEET revised cutoff percentile & scores

As per the directive of the SC, "We direct that the vacant seats in first year BDS course for the year 2020-2021 shall be filled up from candidates who have participated in the NEET (UG) courses for the year 2020-2021 after lowering the percentile mark by 10 percentile. The candidates belonging to the general category who have secured 40 percentile shall be eligible to be considered for admission in the first year BDS course for the year 2020-2021. Likewise, students belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories shall be qualified if they have secured 30 percentile."

The conducting authority has determined the NEET cut off for MBBS and BDS to shortlist the candidates for admission to 80,055 MBBS, 525 BVSc & AH, 26,949 BDS, and other AYUSH courses offered by government and private colleges of India. Based on the minimum qualifying percentile of the NEET 2020 exam, the merit list will be prepared By Medical Counselling Committees (MCC) for admission to 15% AIQ, deemed/central universities, AFMS, and ESIC institutes. While the respective state counselling authorities will use NEET 2020 state wise cut off for granting admission to 85% state quota seats and other private institutes in the state. As per the official brochure, the NEET cutoff percentile (minimum qualifying marks for NEET 2020) provides the performance comparison of a candidate among others and gives aspirants an idea of how much marks required for NEET. This means that NEET 2020 cutoff percentile will be determined on the basis of the highest marks obtained in the merit list for admission to MBBS/BDS courses. How to calculate the NEET cutoff percentile 2020?

NTA has defined that, “a percentile rank is the percentage of score that falls below a given score in a group.” The authority will apply a specific formula to calculate the minimum qualifying marks for NEET 2020, which is provided below.

Revision of NEET cut off 2020 for MBBS and BDS

The central government in consultation with the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) might lower NEET qualifying marks 2020 for allotment of MBBS/BDS seats in India for candidates from respective categories. The designated authorities will decrease the cutoff of NEET 2020 due to the sufficient number of aspirants from various categories fails to secure the minimum qualifying percentile.

Last year, NEET cutoff for BDS was lowered by 10.00 percentile, making it the 40th percentile for general category candidates. NEET 2020 cutoff: tie-breaking process

In case, if two or more candidates have secured equal NEET cut off qualifying scores, the authority will use the tie-breaking criteria to prepare NEET merit list 2020. The below-mentioned steps in order of preference will be followed to break the tie:

• Higher marks in Biology: Aspirants securing higher scores/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be preferred first for merit list.

• Higher marks in Chemistry: If the tie still exists, then the higher marks/percentile of candidate in Chemistry will be considered.

• Number of incorrect answers: If the tie is still there, students with less number of incorrect and correct attempted answers will be allotted better rank.

• Age: At last, the age of candidate will be taken into consideration. Aspirant elder in age will be given higher rank in the merit list.

NEET result 2020

National Testing Agency (NTA) had announced the result in form of a scorecard on October 16 at ntaneet.nic.in. Aspirants could check their NTA NEET 2020 result by visiting the official website. In order to download NEET 2020 result, aspirants need to enter their NEET roll number, date of birth and security pin. The result-cum-scorecard of NEET 2020 mentions the name, date of birth, the application number, total as well as subject-wise marks obtained and NEET All India Rank (AIR). Also, the result will display NEET cutoff 2020 and qualifying status.

NEET counselling 2020

On the basis of AIR, the exam conducting authority will prepare NEET merit list 2020 indicating the rank-wise names of candidates who have qualified the exam. The merit list will be forwarded to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for conducting NEET 2020 counselling for 15% AIQ, seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC, AFMS and central pool seats.

While the remaining 85% state quota seats in government colleges will be allotted by respective state counselling authorities based on the scores and rank secured in NEET 2020 examination.
