NEET MDS Cut off 2019 – National Board of Examinations (NBE) has announced the cutoff of NEET MDS 2019 on January 14. The authority has set NEET MDS 2019 cut off to shortlist the candidates for admission to Masters of Dental Surgery courses. Aspirants securing more than or equal to the minimum cut off of NEET MDS 2019 is considered qualified. The qualifying cut off for general category students is 50 percentile, while that for SC/ST/OBC categories is 40 percentile. The cut off marks equivalent to the percentile has been declared along with the NEET MDS result on January 14 in online mode. Based on the NEET MDS cut off 2019, the authority will prepare a merit list for 50% All India Quota seats (for admission to around 243 MDS seats). Moreover, the cut off will be used by the state counselling authorities for admission to government and private universities/colleges located in the state. The calculation of cut off scores will be done on the basis of marking scheme set by the authority. It must be noted by aspirants that securing the minimum cut off scores does not guarantee admission to postgraduate dental courses. For admission to MDS colleges, students must participate in NEET MDS counselling for All India Quota and State Quota seats. The cut off of NEET MDS 2019 will be derived on the basis of official marking scheme under which 4 marks will be allotted for every correct answer, while 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong attempt and no mark will be given for unanswered questions. Besides the marking scheme, the factors which will be responsible for determining the cut off scores are as follows:
- Number of candidates appearing for the test
- The difficulty level of the exam
- Seats available and others
NEET MDS 2019 Cut off – Percentile Vs Marks
Candidates who will secure equal to or more than the minimum qualifying cut off will be considered eligible for admission. To qualify in NEET MDS 2019, general category aspirants need to secure 50 percentile, while 40 percentile must be obtained by SC/ST/OBC students. Last year, 50 percentile was equal to 233 cut off marks and 40 percentile was equalled to 204 marks out of a total 960 marks. A percentile rank shows the performance of the candidate in comparison to others, while a percentage rank shows how well a candidate has performed. Percentile ranks are commonly used to clarify the interpretation of marks on the standardised tests, whereas, the percentage of marks is simply calculated based on the marks obtained out of the total marks. Revision of NEET MDS Cut off 2019
In order to fill the sufficient number of vacant seats, the Central Government in consultation of Dental Council of India can lower the NEET MDS 2019 cut off percentile and scores. Last year, the cut off percentile of each category was lowered by 29.735th percentile. It benefited the NEET MDS scores accepting dental colleges for filling their vacant seats. The cut off percentile for general category candidates was reduced from 50 to 20.265, followed by 10.265 percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 15.265 for general PwD categories. Types of NEET MDS Cut off 2019
The NEET MDS 2019 cut off will be used for admission to postgraduate dental courses offered under the following:
- 50% All India Quota seats (excluding Jammu & Kashmir)
- 50% State Quota seats (including Jammu & Kashmir)

In order to be eligible to participate for NEET MDS counselling for 50% All India Quota seats, aspirants need to secure the minimum qualifying percentile declared by NBE. Only those candidates who will secure the minimum cut off scores for 50% AIQ seats will be included in the merit list.

NEET MDS 2019 – Tie Breaking Procedure
In case the marks of two or more candidates will be equal, then the authority will use the following inter-se merit process to determine the merit position:
- Number of correct responses: Aspirants with more number of correct responses in the test will be placed at higher rank
- Date of birth: If the first tie-breaker will fail, then the age of candidates will be considered. Students older in age will be allotted better rank in the merit list

The cut off rank for admission signifies the merit rank at which admission to MDS courses closed for UR, SC, ST, and OBC. As per previous year data, the last rank of the general category was 270 for admission to MDS course under 50% All India Quota seats, while the NEET MDS cut off rank 2017 for UR category was 290. NBE will prepare the NEET MDS 2019 merit list on the basis of cut off scores. The authority will release the merit list for All India Quota seats and state-wise merit list. For admission to dental colleges, the rank list will be prepared as listed below:
- All India NEET MDS rank: It includes the overall merit rank of all the candidates who appeared for NEET MDS 2019
- All India 50% Quota rank: This list shows the merit position of aspirants amongst all the candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam and are eligible for 50% AIQ seats
- All India 50% Quota Category rank: This is the merit position of candidates in the respective categories (OBC/SC/ST), as chosen by students while filling the NEET MDS application form 2019, amongst the aspirants eligible for 50% AIQ seats
- State Quota rank: State quota rank, state category rank, benefit of in-service candidates, rural posting (if applicable) and other will be determined by the designated authority of the particular state
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the counselling for admission to 50% All India Quota seats, deemed and central universities/colleges. In order to be eligible for counselling, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying NEET MDS 2019 cut off as prescribed by NBE. To participate for NEET MDS 2019 counselling, aspirants have to register themselves online by entering the required details. During the registration process, they have to fill their preferences of colleges as well as courses. On the basis of these preferences, NEET MDS AIR and availability of seats, the seat allotment process will be done.
