PGIMER 2016 - Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh will conduct national level PGIMER 2016 entrance exam for admission to approximately 213 seats in 20 postgraduate courses in Master of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) programmes. PGIMER 2016 Eligibility: Candidates who have completed their MBBS 2016 degree and obtained registration from Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Councils after completing their compulsory rotating internship are eligible for applying for PGIMER 2016. An important eligibility criterion for PGIMER 2016 is given below:

  • Candidates must have passed MBBS from a University/Institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) after their rotatory internship

  • Candidates must be registered with Central /State Medical Registration Council

  • For July Session: Candidate must have completed the required 12 Months rotating internship/practical training on or before June30, 2016 if they are applying for PGIMER 2016 for July session

PGIMER 2016 Exam Pattern: The exam was a pen and paper based test based on the syllabus as prescribed by the examination authority. The question booklet of PGIMER 2016 will have questions based on the topics taught during MBBS programmes. The questions was basically from Pre-clinical, Para-clinical and Clinical Phase.

 

Highlights of PGIMER 2016 Exam Pattern are mentioned below: 

  • The test duration was 3 hours and will be conducted in a single section

  • PGIMER 2016 was pen and paper based exam

  • The exam had 250 Multiple Choices Questions (MCQ), with single correct response out of five response

  • The exam has been conducted in English language

  • There was negative marking in PGIMER 2016 for incorrect response

PGIMER 2016 Application Procedure: Candidates can fill the application form in an online mode. The PGIMER 2016 application for July session has begun from March 17, 2016. Before filling up the application form candidates are advised to carefully read the information brochure to ascertain their eligibility criteria. Candidates who wish to pursue MD and MS from PGIMER, Chandigarh can fill application form but they must ensure the eligibility criteria before applying.The last date of online registrations for PGIMER 2016 July was April 16, however, candidates can deposit the requiste examination fee till April 21, 2016.

 

The cost of application form was Rs. 1000 for all other category candidates and Rs. 800 for SC/ST category candidates. Candidates can deposit fees in any State Bank of India branch by filling the challan form in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account No. 32211613319. Those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fees through i-collect service No. 32222954695.

PGIMER 2016 Admit Card: The admit card of PGIMER 2016 was available for  only those candidates whose application has been accepted by examination authority. The admit card will have candidate’s detail like name, roll number, exam center, time and examination instructions.

 

PGIMER 2016 Result: The result has been declared on May 23, 2016. Candidates can check their PGIMER 2016 result by entering their application number and date of birth. According to officials, the result has been declared only for those candidates who have scored the qualifying marks. As per the qualifying criteria, general candidates have to score a minimum of 55 percentile and OBC, OPH, SC/ST, Rural Area, Foreign Nationals candidates have to score 50 percentile. 

 

PGIMER 2016 Merit List: The merit list will be declared for those candidates who will secure the qualifying marks in the entrance exam. According to the obtained score merit list will be prepared for all candidates. In order to qualify PGIMER 2016 candidates have to score the required percentile as per their category. Candidates will be called for counselling as per their rank in merit list.

 

PGIMER 2016 Cut off: The cut off score is the minimum marks must be secured by candidates to qualify the entrance exam.  As per the PGIMER officials, candidates have to score minimum percentile in their respective category to qualify the exam. PGIMER 2016 Counselling: The allocation of MD/MS seats will be done through personal counselling. The PGIMER 2016 counselling for July session will be conducted in four rounds including open selection. In each category the number of candidates called for counselling will be 3 times the number of seats. . The counselling will be done strictly by merit list. The candidates in order of merit will exercise their choice of subject according to availability of seats. The first counselling of PGIMER 2016 for July session will be conducted on June 10, followed by second and third counselling on July 11 and July 25, respectively. Any candidate who does not get the subject of his/her choice in the first counselling can also attend the second counselling to get the subject of his/her choice. No penalty will be charged from the candidate who gets selected in another subject after resigning from the subject in which they have joined after the first counselling.

if my internship is going to end in march 2021, can i appear for pgimer exam in november 2020? or do i need to complete the the internship for giving an attempt?

So, PGIMER 2020 will be conducted twice a year in the month of November and June for January and July session respectively.

And its official eligibility criteria says :

Candidates must have completed a one-year rotatory internship by December 31, 2019, for the January session.
and;
Each candidate applying for PGIMER 2020 must have a permanent/provisional registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India.

So, unfortunately you cannot appear for PGIMER 2020.

The next application form for PGIMER will be for July session. The application forms will be released in the second week of March 2020 and will be ending till second week of April 2020. The examination will be held on 23 May, 2020. So, just keep an eye on the official Website and fill the application form. For more details refer the following link -

when is form filling date .and

Hi Ankita,

If your question is with respect to admission for the year 2020 then unfortunately you have missed it for January session as the form filling date for the year 2020 was from 26 october 2019 to 14 november 2019 andThe exam was conducted on 30th November 2019.

For July session they still had not released any schedule. You need to wait for it.

PGIMER is a national level entrance exam. PGIMER exam is managed by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. when will be the second entrance exam

The second exam for PGIMER will be in 4th week of November 2020, the registration will start from 4th week of October 2020.

Result will be announced in December.

These dates may vary, so you need to wait till may-june for the official declaration of exam and registration dates.
