In the PGIMER seats and reservation 2020 criteria, a certain number of seats will be reserved for the benefit of candidates who belong to underprivileged sections of the society. Aspirants who qualify the PGIMER exam will be granted admission on the basis of combined and category-wise merit list, which will be prepared on the basis of PGIMER 2020 seats and reservation. PGIMER 2020 Seat Reservation Criteria
PGIMER, Chandigarh has set criteria for the reservation of seats of PGIMER 2020 for the different categories based on which the seat matrix is prepared. To get admission under the below-mentioned categories, the candidates will be required to furnish the certificate (as per the official format) in support of their claim which has been issued by the competent authority. The percentage of seats reserved for various categories in PGIMER 2020 has been described below.
Other Backward Classes (OBC): Of the total seats, 27% of seats have been reserved for candidates belonging to OBC category. Such candidates, however, need to fulfil the minimum admission requirements of PGIMER 2020 i.e., candidates need to obtain 50th percentile in the entrance test in order to be included in the merit list prepared for the OBC quota.
Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste (ST/SC): About 22.5% seats approximately are reserved for the ST/SC candidates. In order to secure admission under these categories, candidates need to score 50th percentile in the entrance which is the minimum admission requirement for PGIMER 2020.
Candidates working/have worked in Rural Areas: PGIMER Chandigarh reserves 5% of the total seats for candidates who are working or have rendered their services in any rural area (with a population less than 5000) for a period of at least two years until June 30 for the January session.
Persons with Disability: 3% of the total seats are reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities under the PGIMER seat and reservation criteria 2020.
Sponsored Candidates: Certain seats through PGIMER 2020 are to be reserved for deputed/sponsored candidates nominated by institutions under Central/State Government, autonomous bodies of the Central Government or MCI recognized Public sector colleges. Such candidates also need to qualify in the entrance test and will be considered for admission only if the following criteria are fulfilled:
Candidates are employees and must have worked for at least three years with the sponsoring authority as on or before December 31 for the January session.
Candidates, after completing training with PGIMER Chandigarh will work for a period of five years in the field of training received with the concerned sponsoring authority.
The sponsoring authority will bear all the financial implications of the candidate during the training period at PGIMER Chandigarh.

PGIMER Seat and Reservation 2020 – Important Features
PGIMER Chandigarh will prepare two types of merit lists – combined and category-wise as per the PGIMER 2020 seat and reservation rules.
Candidates from reserved categories securing a higher order of merit in the combined merit list will be able to compete for the Open/General category seats.
Candidates from the various categories also need to secure the minimum qualifying percentile required for admission purposes.
The allotment of seat in the MD/MS programmes will be according to the order of merit of the candidates.
The seats reservation will be released along with the PGIMER application form 2020 on October 26, 2019.
As per the PGIMER seats and reservation, 27% seats will be reserved for OBC candidates, while 22.5% seats will be reserved for ST and SC candidates.
Apart from the above mentioned reserved categories, 5% seats will be for aspirants who have worked in rural areas and 3% will be reserved for PWD candidates. Also, the seats will be reserved for foreign nationals and sponsored applicants
