The Rajasthan University of Health Sciences landed itself on a sticky situation recently when it published the answer key for RPMT 2014.  At least 59 questions were found to be wrong in the answer key released on June 2, 2014.

After complaint from students, the authorities released a revised RPMT 2014 answer key late night on June 3, 2014, while promising to give students 4 marks as bonus for every wrong question.

For any doubts and queries related to the exam call the RPMT  2014 Exam Helpline at 011-40360360.

While the action takes care of the RPMT 2014 Results of the students, the issue at hand is much bigger.

59 questions were found to be wrong out of 1200 questions posed in 6 sessions of the exam held between May 28 to 30, 2014. According to experts, this not only raises a huge question mark on RUHSRAJ’s credibility but also puts a student’s future in stake.

If we take a close look at both the answer keys we will find that there were discrepancies in every session of the exam. It means that most, if not all of the students who appeared for the exam must have had to face at least one wrong question.

In fact, a whopping 19 questions were wrong in Slot 1 of the RPMT 2014 exam held on May 29. This means a student who attempted all the 19 questions stood to lose 76 marks. This would have been a big loss out of 800 marks. Had the authorities not responded to the complaints by students, this would have drastically affected their ranks and in turn affected their chance of getting admission at their institute of choice.

RPMT 2014 offers admission for 85% seats in each government and private medical/dental colleges located in Rajasthan state, which is a huge chunk of the total number of seats.

Now, although it took a swift step of announcing a 4 marks bonus for every attempted wrong question, this again will have an impact on the RPMT 2014 cutoff.

TheRPMT is the most important medical exam in Rajasthan. Many students are known to spend a lot of time and money in its preparation. As such, is it being questioned whether it is justified that all students who attempted the wrong question will be awarded the bonus marks. However, the RUHSRAJ authorities do not seem to have any other solution to the problem it has created.

The authorities have not also indicated any plan to take any action against the committee that compiled the RPMT 2014 questions. A such, questions are poring in from all quaters on whether the committee attempted to solve the questions themselves and, if so, why could they not detect the issue then.

Authorities at RUHSRAJ have not responded to any query by Careers360.

It seems, for the present, RUSHRAJ is shying away from accountability.

However, RUHSRAJ released a notification on June 4 issuing a mail id and number for the students to submit their grievances against the revised answer key.

This is not the only case where wrong questions have troubled test takers. Even major national level exams like AIPMT, JEE Advanced and CAT have experienced similar issues.

It is high time that the paper-compiling committees of exam bodies take minute care while setting questions. Also, the questions should be framed keeping the student in mind rather than just the exam standard.

I got 87.5% in 12th and if i will het 450 in NEET then can i get a medical college for MBBS ?

Priyaanka Sarkar Student Expert 12th Nov, 2019

Your 12th marks hold importanxe only for qualifying you for NEET. They hold no importance or weightage in getting you a Medical seat. For you to secure a seat in MBBS, your NEET score, Category and rank in the merit list matter. Now you haven't mentioned the Category and State you belong to. 450 might get a seat in Private Medical Colleges but for Government Medical Colleges you need much more.

What is the expected cut off for veterinary in neet 2020? How much should I score to get admission in good goverment veterinary college? I belong to general category.

Priyaanka Sarkar Student Expert 11th Nov, 2019

In 2019, 537 marks under General Category secured a seat in B.V.Sc in General Category. Now cut offs change every year and are dependant on various factors such as no.of Candidates appearing for the exam, no.of Candidates qualified, top NEET score and difficulty of the exam. So if you want a seat in B.V.Sc, you should aim atleast for 550 and above.
