MBBS and BDS seats for Tamil Nadu Medical Counselling 2016 – The Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 counselling will be conducted for approximately 2300 MBBS and BDS seats in Government and Self Financing medical and dental colleges.
Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Counselling – Reservation of seats
The selection will be made on merit basis and by counselling applying the rule of reservation by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The reservation criteria to be followed at the time counselling are given below:

Within 30% reservation for Backward Classes 3.5% will be provided for Muslims and 16% of seats out of the 18% quota reserved for Scheduled Caste, will be allocated to the Arunthathiyar Community.
Highlights of Tamil Nadu Medical Counselling 2016:
Candidates have to download counselling call letter of Tamil Medical 2016 for attending the counselling session
No Individual call letters will be sent to candidates regarding counselling. Individual intimation by way of SMS is being sent to the mobile number given by the candidates in their application form
Candidates should be present one hour prior to commencement of counselling along with one of their parent at their own cost.
Candidates have to produce a Demand Draft for Rs. 500drawn in favour of ‘Secretary, Selection Committee, Chennai – 10’ at the time of counselling as the counselling processing fee. Candidates without the Demand Drafts will not be permitted to attend the counselling.
Candidates should pay the fee prescribed for the programmes at the time of seat allotment
Candidates must attend the counselling as per the date, time and mark mentioned in the schedule
Candidates selected under Special Category (Ex-Servicemen, Eminent Sports persons, Orthopaedically Physically Disabled) in 1st Phase of counselling are not eligible for re-allotment.
If the candidate is absent for the counselling as per the allotted schedule then they cannot attend the subsequent Tamil Nadu MBBS 2016 counselling
Those candidates who opted out of Govt. /SF MBBS/ Govt. BDS when seats were available in 1st phase of counselling are not eligible to claim the same in the subsequent counselling
Candidates attending Tamil Nadu MBBS 2016 should produce two Demand Drafts one for Rs.500/- (at Attendance Counter) and the second Demand Draft for tuition fee for respective category at Bank counter in the Main Hall after seat allotment is confirmed
Candidates who get allotment in Government Quota of Self Financing MBBS and if they do not join the amount of Rs. 25,000 paid as Demand Draft will not be refunded
Candidates can only opt for the vacancies available at their turn
Only one of the parents is allowed to accompany the candidate for Tamil Nadu Medical counselling 2016
Candidates are advised to be present One Hour in advance before the specified time and the Candidates should bring all original certificates failing which they will not be allowed to attend the counselling and will not be considered for allotment. Candidates who are already studying in an institution have to produce the Bonafide Certificate from the Head of the Institution
Candidates who are absent at the scheduled date and time will not be considered for admission later
Option once exercised during the Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 counselling will be final and cannot be changed later
Candidates who opt out of a seat will not be considered for the seats available in future.
When seats are available in a particular category, the candidates will not be permitted to take the seats available in another category unless an undertaking is given by the candidate and the parent that the candidate is not willing to take up seats available in that particular category. The candidate will not be considered for the seat if any available in future for which he/she opted out.
Candidates are informed that the allotment orders will be issued on the day of counselling
If the Nativity Certificate of candidate (for whom it is necessary) is not produced along with supporting document such as passport/Family (Ration) Card / Birth Certificate even at the time of counselling, they will not be permitted to attend the counselling and will not be considered for allotment. Permanent Residence Certificate will not be accepted
