Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Eligibility Criteria- Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu and wish to pursue MBBS and BDS programmes are advised to read the eligibility criteria to ascertain their qualification for 2016-17 academic year. Only those candidates who will fulfil Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Eligibility criteria as asked by Selection Committee Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Tamil Nadu will be considered for admission. According to Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS 2016 Eligibility, candidates must be a native of the state and passed 10+2/HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology & Botany) with requite percentage as per the criteria.
It must be noted that admission to candidates will be done only on fulfilment of eligibility criteria in terms of age, academic qualification, rank in merit list, etc.

Highlights of Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Eligibility Criteria are mentioned below:
Age Limit: Candidates should have completed the age of 17 years on or before December 31, 2016. Evidence of age has to be produced at the time of admission
Candidate should be a Citizen of India
Overseas Citizens of India (registered under section 7A of the Citizenship Act) are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS courses subject to the production of proof of registration
Candidate should be a Native of Tamil Nadu
Candidates who have studied from VIII to XII standards in schools in Tamil Nadu need not enclose the ‘Nativity Certificate’
Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu but studied from VIII to XII standards either partly or completely in schools situated outside Tamil Nadu should produce the “Nativity Certificate
The certificate of nativity in should be issued by the competent authority only in the specified format. The submitted certificate must supported by a copy of Passport/ Ration Card / Birth Certificate. If candidates fail to submit the supporting document then the application form will be rejected. Applications without a proper Nativity Certificate will not be considered and Permanent Residence Certificate will not be accepted in the Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 application form
Nativity certificate should be produced as per instructions provided for Nativity Certificate
Producing false Nativity Certificate will lead to cancellation of the candidate from the admission process and also criminal proceedings against the candidate and parents will be initiated as per provision of law
Educational Qualifications for Tamil Nadu Medical admission 2016:
Candidates should have passed in all subjects of 10+2/HSC conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board /any other equivalent Board in the same attempt (Single Sitting)
According to Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 Eligibility criteria candidates must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology/Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subjects
The selection and admission of candidates of other Universities / Boards will be provisional subject to recognition of the qualifying examination by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University under which the candidate gets admitted. In case, the recognition is not accorded for the admission of the candidate on any ground, the provisional admission will not entitle the candidate for the continuance of the course and the admission will be cancelled.
Candidates undergoing MBBS and BDS course are not eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS course
Only the marks obtained in the science subjects in the 10+2/HSC qualifying examination as a whole in the first appearance will alone be taken into consideration for the allotment of seats in Tamil Nadu Medical 2016
In the case of candidates who have furnished the mark sheets of the qualifying examination, only in grades, the minimum marks of the grades alone will be taken into consideration while determining the marks in the select Science subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany and Zoology
Candidates who have submitted mark sheets with grades should obtain the statement of marks indicating the actual marks secured from the examination authority and attach a certified copy as an enclosure to the application
Normalization method will be adopted for calculating the minimum eligibility mark Tamil Nadu Medical 2016 for candidates who have passed any other equivalent examination
Not Eligible: Candidates who passed10+2/HSC in Vocational Stream and private candidates are not eligible to apply for Tamil Nadu Medical admission 2016

Tamil Nadu Medical Admission 2016 Eligibility – Marks Wise
Minimum 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology
Minimum of 60% marks in each of Physics and Chemistry subjects
Weighted aggregate of the percentage should not be less than 140 out of 200 mark
Orthopedically Physically Disabled Category:
Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs, OC / BC / BCM / MBC / DC should have a minimum of 45% of marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects
SC/SCA/ST- 40% of marks in above prescribed subjects taken together in qulaifying examination
Backward Class and Backward class Muslim:
Weighted aggregate of the percentage should not be less than 130 out of 200 mark
Most Backward classes and Denotified communities:
Minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together
Minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry
Weighted aggregate of the percentage should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks
Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Caste – Arunthathiyar, Scheduled Tribes:
Minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together
Minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry
Weighted aggregate of the percentage should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks

The exam, which earlier stood cancelled as per the Supreme Court order on May 9, 2016, again comes into effect after the Centre brought an ordinance on NEET, which put state entrance tests out of NEET ambit for 2016 admission year.
