Madhya Pradesh, popularly known as the heart of India, is home to 14 medical institutes, including one institute of national importance i.e. All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal. The state offers 1950 MBBS seats, including 100 in AIIMS. Six top institutes in the state have been rated with three getting AAA rating among Top Medical Colleges in Central India 2015.
AIIMS Bhopal, though new, has been rated AA+ primarily on the basis of its good cut-off among the newly established AIIMS’ and is poised to emerge as one of the best in the coming years on account of research output too. MG Medical College, Indore scores well in students’ quality whereas Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior has comparatively high average publication score.
Chhattisgarh has nearly eight hundred MBBS seats offered by seven institutes. Pt. JLNM Medical College, Raipur has been rated AAA among Top Medical Colleges in Central India 2015, largely due to its student quality reflected in top rankers in the state entrance test opting for the same. CIMS, Bilaspur and AIIMS Raipur with AA+ and AA respectively are other promising institutes, the latter having a fair publication count and citation score.
