About NEET PG 2020

National Board of Examinations (NBE) is the conducting authority of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) courses. NEET PG exam is conducted once in a year for admission to Doctor of Medicine (MD), Masters of Surgery (MS) and Postgraduate Diploma (PG diploma). NEET PG exam is usually held in the first Sunday of January, therefore, it is expected to be conducted on January 5, 2020. The online entrance exam is conducted for admission to 50% All India Quota, 50% state quota seats, 100% seats in deemed and central universities, AFMC and ESIC colleges. The application form of NEET PG 2020 will be released in the first week of November 2019. Those who fulfils the certain eligibility criteria set by NBE can apply for NEET PG. 

The PG entrance examination is conducted in online mode containing 300 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in English language only. The syllabus of NEET PG 2020 comprise of subjects which were taught in MBBS and will be as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical Council of India (MCI). The exam will be divided in three parts (Part A, B and C) containing 50, 100 and 150 questions, respectively. The national-level entrance exam to be conducted in 148 exam cities of India, tentatively. MD/MS exam will be held for three hours thirty minutes (3 hours thirty minutes) from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Aspirants have to secure the minimum qualifying percentile of NEET PG 2020, as prescribed by NBE. The cutoff percentile for general category is 50th, while for SC/ST/OBC is 40th.

The Government of India in consultation with the Medical Council of India might lower the NEET PG qualifying cutoff in order to fill the vacant seats. Last year, the authority reduced the NEET PG cutoff by six percentile. With the NEET PG cutoff (2018) being lowered, the qualifying percentile for general category was 44, while for SC/ST/OBC and PWD candidates, it is 34 and 39, respectively. 

NEET PG qualifiers will be called for counselling process. The seat allotment for 50% AIQ, 100% deemed and central universities, ESIC and AFMC seats will be done by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). While the counselling for admission to 50% state quota seats and private medical universities will be done by the respective state authorities on the basis of scores and All India Rank (AIR) secured in the national-level exam.

The NEET PG 2020 eligibility criteria for aspirants appearing in the postgraduate medical examination has been listed below. 

  • Candidates must possess a valid MBBS degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI), and have an MBBS degree or provisional certificate to that effect. 
  • Completion of the rotatory internship on or before March 31, 2020.
  • Provisional or permanent medical registration certificate issued by MCI or a State Medical Council. This must be carried on the day of the exam and during admission.
  • Candidates who have studied/qualified MBBS from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for All India 50% Quota seats. Only candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to study MBBS from Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible for All India 50% quota seats. Such candidates must submit a duly signed affidavit declaring this.

NBE will release the NEET PG 2020 application form in the online mode in the first week of November 2019. Candidates can check the various steps of the application process of NEET PG 2020 here-

  • Fill the registration form for obtaining User ID and Password
  • User ID and password will be then, sent through SMS and Email
  • Fill the application form - Personal Details, Qualification Details (MBBS / Primary Medical Qualification details, Internship Details, SMC/MCI Registration Details), Test Center Details
  • Upload a recent passport size photograph (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format) and signature (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format) signature
  • Choose test city
  • Make payment of fees in the online mode through debit/credit card or net banking.
  • Take a print out of the filled application form with transaction ID printed on it.

Important: Test City will be confirmed only after payment of fee is successful.

Correction of mistakes in NEET application form

Candidates who will make mistakes in their application form can rectify the same. The correction window will be open for a week after the closing of application form.

The NEET PG admit card 2020 will be released by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in the last week of December 2019. The NEET PG 2020 hall ticket will be made available only in the online mode. The admit card of NEET PG 2020 can be downloaded by the aspirants who will successfully complete the process of registration. Candidates could download the NEET PG admit card from the official link by entering their user ID and password. Upon downloading the admit card of NEET PG 2020, candidates are required to affix a recent passport sized photograph on the admit card.

NBE will announce NEET PG result 2020 in the last week of January, in online mode. Only the qualified candidates can download the score card of NEET PG 2020 using their user ID and password. The result will mention roll number, All India Rank and marks (out of 1200). The authority will also release the NEET PG scorecard 2020 in the first week of February in the online mode. Candidates who will appear the postgraduate examination can check their NEET PG 2020 result available in the PDF file. The result of NEET PG 2020 indicates whether a candidate has qualified in the exam or not. The merit list released in NEET PG 2020 result contains the roll number of the candidates, marks obtained (out of 1200) and rank secured. Candidates need to secure the minimum cutoff percentile in order to be included in the rank list of NEET PG 2020 result.

The NEET mark sheet cum result certificate can be downloaded to be used for admissions. This is in actual the result. The NEET scores will be passed on to the respective states to be used for their respective counselling procedures.   

NBE will release the NEET PG cutoff 2020 along with the result. The NEET PG cutoff is decided by NBE and is subject to revision. NEET PG cutoff percentile varies for different categories. The cutoff of NEET PG 2020 is the minimum marks that candidates need to score so as to qualify in the exam. Candidates can check the lowered NEET PG cutoff 2020 from the table below, along with the previous cutoff.

Mode of Counselling: Online, Offline

NEET PG counselling 2020 will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee) for the seats under All India Quota and in Central and Deemed universities, while the state quota seat allotment process will be conducted by respective state counselling authorities. Only the qualified candidates will be eligible to participate for NEET PG 2020 counselling.

MCC will release the provisional first allotment list of NEET PG counselling 2020, while the final result will be made available  Once the seats are allotted, aspirants need to provide an option for upgradation and also download the allotment letter. Thereafter, report to the allotted college with the relevant documents.

Only the qualified candidates who will secure the minimum cutoff percentile will be required to register with the counselling bodies. There are two rounds of NEET PG 2020 counselling. The second round of NEET counselling for PG courses will begin from first week of April. The mop-up round of counselling will be conducted for Deemed and Central Universities only. Candidates allotted seats through NEET PG counselling 2020 will be required to report to the allotted colleges within the stipulated time for admission purposes.
