AP students asked to prepare for EAMCET & NEET 2013!
Aspirants to the medical programmes in the state of Andhra Pradesh are in a dilemma. The confusion stems from the fact that the state education authorities have asked the students to be prepared for both NEET as well as EAMCET for 2013. Following the objections to NEET and subsequent petitions against it in the court, the education department is not taking a chance by conducting EAMCET 2013.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to give a ruling on the NEET examination in January 2013.
In the meantime, the Supreme Court has passed an interim order on December 13, 2012 allowing states to conduct their own common entrance tests (CETs) putting the students in a quandary and a state of stressful uncertainity. The State govt is reluctant to make concrete announcements to dispel the fears of the students. Instead the Education dept is going ahead with the preparations for EAMCET 2013 in case the ruling comes in favour of the state held exam.
Around 1 lakh students are expected to seek admission into medical programmes in Andhra Pradesh this year.
Ratna Kishore, Principal Secretary, Medical and Health department has announced that EAMCET 2013 will be held as per the schedule. Admission into medical colleges will be based on the rank the candidates obtained in EAMCET. The case would be same if the court ruling comes in favour of NEET with admissions based on NEET rankings. This is the reason why the officials are asking students for both UG and PG programmes to be prepared for both the exams.
Eamcet-2013 is speculated to be held in the second week of May, soon after NEET on May 5. This has lead to a nightmarish situation for the students who are illequipped to handle two entrance exams of different calibres.
