NEET 2017: CBSE releases Answer Sheet on June 13, will release Official Answer Key on June 15
The CBSE has released the NEET OMR Answer Sheets from June 13 and will release the Official NEET Answer Key from June 15. The new dates were announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) through an official notification released on June 12. The notification came following the Supreme Court order passed on the same day which overturned the stay order on NEET 2017 Results passed by the Madras High Court and allowed the CBSE to proceed with the results declaration before June 26.

Both the Official NEET 2017 Answer Key and NEET OMR Answer Sheets were expected to be released by May end, followed by release of NEET Result 2017 on June 8. Both of these were delayed following the stay order passed by the Madras High Court on May 24. Following the Supreme Court order however, a new schedule has been prepared by the CBSE. Candidates will now be able to download the images of their OMR Answer Sheets as released by the CBSE on June 13 and will be able to challenge the same until the evening (5 pm) of June 14. Also, the NEET 2017 Official Answer Key will be made available on the official CBSE site from June 15 until the evening of June 16. Candidates must note that the display of NEET answer sheets and downloading of NEET answer keys can only be done for a duration of 2 days, and not for 3 days as was mentioned in the NEET information brochure.

The Supreme Court allowed the CBSE to proceed with declaration of NEET 2017 Results on or before June 26. The two week margin was given to allow the CBSE to first complete the OMR Answer Sheet and Answer Key release and verification formalities, which have now begun from June 13 as confirmed through the new notification. The decision overturned the Madras High Court’s stay order which had earlier prevented the CBSE from declaring the NEET results on the scheduled date of June 8. The stay order had been passed on May 24 with regard to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Question Paper languages controversy, in which several NEET 2017 candidates had complained that the question papers were different in different languages thereby making the whole selection process unfair. Petitioners had filed cases in the Madras, Gujarat and Calcutta High Courts against the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), demanding that the exam be scrapped and held again.
The SC verdict now allows the CBSE to publish the NEET 2017 Results before June 26 and ensure that the NEET 2017 Counselling schedule is not delayed too much. The CBSE had been expected to release the NEET Answer Key by the end of May but had been unable to do so. The NEET 2017 results can now be expected between June 18 and June 26.
