Careers360: Tell us about your domain and work profile. Did you pursue the same field of interest professionally?
Aryamol Mathew: Yes, I have always been passionate about healthcare, and I’m proud to have continued in the same field after graduation. I currently work as a staff nurse at Apollo Hospital, Mumbai, where I apply the knowledge and skills gained during my time at East Point College of Nursing. The curriculum and clinical exposure I received helped align my interests with professional practice seamlessly.

Careers360: Can you briefly describe your career path so far

Aryamol Mathew: My professional journey began immediately after graduation when I joined Apollo Hospital. The hospital environment has offered me hands-on experience, enabling me to grow as a confident and competent nurse. Every day presents new learning opportunities and challenges that continue to shape my clinical skills.

Careers360: Is the industry work different from what you learnt at East Point College of Nursing?

Aryamol Mathew: Yes, transitioning from college to a hospital setting is a learning curve. East Point provided me with a solid theoretical and practical foundation, but working in a fast-paced hospital demands real-time decision-making, adaptability, and communication. However, the academic preparation I received at East Point made the transition smoother.

Careers360: How has your time in college added value to your life—professionally and personally?

Aryamol Mathew: East Point College of Nursing had a tremendous impact on both my professional and personal growth. The disciplined environment, committed faculty, and hands-on training helped me develop clinical confidence. Personally, it taught me values like empathy, time management, and teamwork—traits that are indispensable in nursing.

Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined East Point College of Nursing?

Aryamol Mathew: I joined with excitement and curiosity, looking forward to diving into the world of nursing. I wanted a campus that would not only educate but also nurture personal growth—and East Point delivered just that. I quickly adapted to the environment and developed lifelong friendships and skills.

Careers360: Do you miss being a part of East Point? Share a few good memories.

Aryamol Mathew: Absolutely! My time at East Point College is filled with unforgettable memories that I truly cherish. I fondly recall clinical postings, group study sessions, health camps, and vibrant college festivals. One of the most memorable experiences was participating in the national-level intercollegiate cultural fest Samskruthi and engaging in health awareness camps in and around Bengaluru. These opportunities not only enhanced our exposure to society but also instilled empathy and a deeper sense of humanity—an essential quality in healthcare.

Careers360: Take us through your campus life and daily activities.

Aryamol Mathew: Campus life at East Point was dynamic, enriching, and holistic. Our days started with engaging theory classes and lab sessions, followed by hands-on clinical postings. Evenings often included discussions, seminars, and relaxing moments with friends. As the nursing program was fully residential and located within a multidisciplinary campus—including East Point Medical College’s 1000-bedded hospital, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health departments—I had ample opportunities to collaborate with peers from other disciplines. This interdisciplinary exposure helped expand my perspective and created the ideal atmosphere for my professional growth.

Careers360: Apart from academics, what other activities were you involved in?

Aryamol Mathew: Beyond academics, I actively participated in organizing health camps, seminars, conferences, and college festivals, which greatly enhanced my leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. I also engaged in awareness programs on national health days and community outreach initiatives under the guidance of our faculty. These activities, along with inter-college academic and sports competitions, contributed to my overall development and shaped me into a confident and competent healthcare professional.

Careers360: How did you stay updated with industry requirements and what role did the institute play?

Aryamol Mathew: East Point College played a vital role in keeping us in sync with current industry trends. Through regular hospital internships, guest lectures by industry experts, and hands-on workshops, we were constantly exposed to the evolving demands of the healthcare sector. Being located in Bengaluru—a major healthcare hub—further enriched our learning, offering exposure to leading hospitals across the city and enhancing our readiness for real-world nursing practice.

Careers360: As a proud alumna, what’s the best part of East Point College of Nursing from a student’s perspective?

Aryamol Mathew: The best part of East Point College is its highly committed faculty and the nurturing learning environment. The support from professors, personalized mentoring, and access to real-time clinical training empowered us to grow not just academically, but also emotionally and professionally. The college truly prepares students to face the challenges of the nursing profession with confidence and compassion.

Careers360: What is your message to aspiring B.Sc Nursing students?

Nursing is not just a career; it’s a calling that requires heart, resilience, and dedication. Embrace every opportunity to learn, develop your skills, and take pride in making a real difference in people’s lives. With sincerity and hard work, success will follow.
