Top Medical College: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates willing to pursue their higher medical education whether undergraduate programme or postgraduate programmes have to fulfil certain eligibility criteria which are as follows:

For NEET- UG: 

  • As per the NEET UG eligibility criteria, the minimum age limit is 17 years; while there is no upper age limit for this test. 

  • Candidates are required to pass class 12  with a minimum 50% aggregate in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry along with English as an additional subject. 

  • It is mandatory to pass 10+2 from a recognised school board.

For NEET-PG: 

  • For NEET-PG eligibility criteria, it is mandatory for the candidates to pass an MBBS or provisional MBBS degree from an institute recognised by the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. 

  • Candidates should possess a Medical Council of India or State Medical Council of India-approved MBBS registration certificate either permanent or provisional. 

  • Candidates should have successfully completed one year of the internship.

For INI CET: 

  • According to INI CET eligibility criteria, candidates should have passed MBBS from the medical institutions recognised by the Medical Council of India or the National Medical Council. 

  • MBBS degree is required to pursue MD/MS/MCH OR DM.

  • It is a prerequisite for the candidates belonging to the unreserved/ OBC/ EWS category to pass MBBS with 55% aggregate. For SC/ST reserved quota candidates the minimum percentage required is 50%. 

  • The candidates are required to complete one year of mandatory internship and should possess the certificate validating the completion of their internship.

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is constituted by the Government of India and the Ministry of Education to rank institutes providing higher education. The parameters of the ranking are the availability of resources, teaching and learning methods, the outcome of the graduation, the ability to carry out research, professional practices, the inclusion of people, outreach programmes, and the perception and vision the institutes hold. Admission to Medical Colleges in India

Admission to medical colleges in India both for undergraduate and postgraduate courses is through entrance tests. Candidates have to pass the NEET UG  entrance exam to get admission to undergraduate courses such as MBBS. NEET UG exam is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). This entrance exam occurs once a year. It is a national-level computer-based test. Allotment in UG  seats in state medical colleges after clearing NEET UG is also based on the state-wise quota for seat reservation. 

NEET PG entrance examination is conducted by the NBE (National Board of Examination) for enrolment in post-graduation and PG diploma courses in medical science. It is a national-level computer-based test of 210 minutes duration. There are 200 MCQs, where each right answer carries 4 marks and a negative mark of 1 mark for every wrong answer. The result of the NEET PG entrance exam is eligible to get admission to various medical colleges across India.

INI CET entrance test is also for admission to postgraduate medical degree programmes. INI CET is conducted by AIIMS, Delhi. This exam occurs twice a year. It is a national-level exam which is computer-based. There are a total of 200 questions and time duration is 180 minutes. For every right answer candidates would get a +1 mark and -⅓ would be deducted for every wrong answer. Clearing this entrance test makes candidates eligible for admission in 8 AIIMS institutes, NIMHANS Bangalore, JIPMER Puducherry, and PGIMER Chandigarh.
