MBBS Colleges in India: Admission Process

To get admission in the top medical colleges for MBBS, you first need to fulfil the above eligibility criteria and secondly have to appear for the entrance exams that are conducted in the state or national level. It is therefore mandatory to qualify the exams to get a seat in MBBS. Thus, this level of clearing the entrance exam is compulsory and is the first step towards admission. You can't move ahead without this.

After clearing your 10+2 if you wish to pursue MBBS, then you need to focus on only one core entrance exam which is applicable in most of the states and colleges. The exam is referred to as "NEET" which is the short form of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Apart from this, there are other two exams too that have been merged with NEET

Admission to all the private, government, central and deemed universities is done on the basis of NEET score. MBBS seats are allotted through counselling based on rank in the merit list, preferences and availability of the seats. In India, there are 532 medical colleges across which 76,928 MBBS seats are available. If we talk about AIIMS, in its 15 campuses in India including its main campus in New Delhi, it offers around 1205 seats, and JIPMER offers 200 seats in its Puducherry and Karaikal campus by conducting its entrance exam.

In short, this is all you need to know about the admission procedure for MBBS colleges in India. Thus, your admission fully depends on the marks secured and documents submitted at the time of counselling. If all this goes well, then you will be able to get your preferred college.
