Quick Facts

  • Motion of Block in Contact is considered one the most difficult concept.

  • 5 Questions around this concept.

Solve by difficulty

A block of mass m is connected to another block of mass  by a spring ( massless ) of spring constant  K . The blocks are kept on a smooth horizontal plane.Initially the blocks are at rest and the spring is unstretched   Then a constant force  starts acting on the block of mass  to pull it. Find the force of the block of mass  m.

Three blocks A, B and C, of masses 4 kg, 2 kg and 1 kg respectively, are in contact on a frictionless surface, as shown. If a force of 14 N is applied on the 4 kg block, then the contact force between A and B is:

Motion of Block in Contact

Use\:F_{net}=ma

a=\frac{F_{net}}{m_{1}+m_{2} }

  1. When 2 Blocks are in Contact

F-f=m_{1}a

f=m_{2}a

a=\frac{F}{m_{1}+m_{2}}

f=\frac{m_{2}F}{m_{1}+m_{2}}

  1. When 3 Blocks are in Contact

Use\:F_{net}=ma

a=\frac{F}{m_{1}+m_{2}+m_{3}}

f_{1}=\frac{(m_{2}+m_{3})F}{m_{1}+m_{2}+m_{3}}

f_{2}=\frac{m_{3}F}{m_{1}+m_{2}+m_{3}}
