The AIIMS BSc Nursing entrance exam follows a structured pattern to assess a candidate’s knowledge and skills. As per the paper pattern of the AIIMS BSc (Hons.) Nursing exam, questions are asked from four subjects namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge, with each subject carrying specific marks.
Candidates have to answer multiple-choice questions either in English or Hindi. AIIMS BSc The total marks for the AIIMS BSc nursing exam are 100; that is, 30 marks for each section of the PCB and 10 marks for the General Knowledge section. For each correct answer, 1 mark will be given, whereas there is negative marking of one-third of a mark for a wrong answer.
As per the exam pattern of AIIMS BSc Nursing (Post-Basic), the test is divided into two stages: a written test and a personal interview round. Candidates who aspire to join the programme need to qualify for stage one. Qualified candidates in stage 1 will be called for stage 2, which is a personal interview round.
Qualifying in both the written exam and the personal assessment/interview is mandatory for securing admission into the AIIMS BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) programme. This two-stage process ensures that candidates not only possess the necessary academic knowledge but also have the interpersonal skills and aptitude required for a career in nursing.
According to the AIIMS B.Sc Nursing (Post-Basic) exam pattern, candidates are required to participate in a written examination of 90 minutes duration. There will be 70 questions covering the important topics, which include fundamentals of medical-surgical nursing (including Anatomy, physiology and pharmacology, obstetrics nursing and midwifery, paediatric nursing, community health nursing, psychiatric nursing and professional trends in nursing.
For stage 2, candidates will be selected based on the merit of the written test (stage 1) by the selection committee of the exam-conducting authority. Three times candidates will be invited from the number of available seats based on the merit list from Stage I. If there is a shortage of SC/ST candidates, candidates from both categories will be invited. If candidates from SC/ST/OBC (NCL) categories are unavailable, the number of general category candidates for personal assessment will be increased proportionately. The total marks of the personal interview round is 30 and students will be assessed on the basis of different factors such as:
