BAMS is commonly abbreviated as a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). It is an unsegregated degree in the medical field. It is a professional degree in medicine that entirely focused on Ayurveda education offered across the country. Ayurveda education is specially designed for students aware of the traditional Indian system of treatments.

BHMS is commonly abbreviated as a Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS). This course covers medical knowledge of various aspects of Homeopathic education. After successful completion of the BHMS course, aspirants can successfully practice as a doctor in Homeopathic.

BAMS vs BHMS - Brief about the course

BAMS is an Ayurvedic traditional healing art in India. Knowledge about 'Ashtanga Ayurveda' along with scientific advances in modern medicine along with extensive practical training will be taught during the course. Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the authority competent for granting admission to Ayurveda education to undergraduates. In order to practice Ayurvedic medicine in India, BHMS is the first door.

In BHMS, the candidate gains knowledge of Homeopathy medicine and surgery. A student is awarded a degree and is renowned as Homeopathic Doctor, after the successful completion of a BHMS degree. A detailed study of a form of homoeopathic medicine that apparently causes no side effects, BHMS is the first step of the ladder that lets you achieve heights in the field of homoeopathy.

BAMS vs BHMS - Course duration

BAMS is an undergraduate level program that focuses on Ayurvedic education in India. BAMS course is for five and a half years duration. After completion of the BAMS degree, the student will be awarded the title ‘Ayurvedacharya’. The theory portion of the BAMS course is carried out in four and a half years. However, it is necessary for aspirants to complete a year rotatory internship for practical training for successful completion of the BAMS degree.

BHMS is an undergraduate degree program that focuses on Homeopathic education in India. BHMS is of five and a half years which also includes one year of internship.

BAMS vs BHMS - Admission process

In order to get admission into these Ayurvedic or Homeopathic courses in India, students have to qualify Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry & Biology by scoring a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for General whereas it is 40% in the case of reserved category.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a single entrance test conducted for granting admission to 52,720 AYUSH and other undergraduate medical seats offered by 914 AYUSH, and various other colleges in India. Authority will conduct NEET 2023 in offline mode. As it is known that admission to any undergraduate AYUSH course is only granted on the basis of NEET.

The things that make a difference in the admission process of BAMS and BHMS is counselling. The counselling for both the courses, the BAMS, BHMS will be totally different from each other. Aspirants have to separately register for this course within the due date. Admission in the aforementioned course will be granted in the AYUSH colleges across the nation, on the basis of application filled, merit list, and counselling process.
