A candidate must be completely familiar with the basic PGIMER 2019 exam pattern so as to comprehend the PGIMER 2019 marking scheme. The basic exam pattern of PGIMER 2019 is provided below.
There will be a total of 250 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with five alternative responses for each question in the question paper of PGIMER 2019. Therefore, there will be a total of 1250 responses.
Each question will have single/multiple correct response(s) in a manner that each question will have at least one correct response and may or may not have more than one correct response.
For every correct answer, candidates are awarded positive marks and there is negative marks for each incorrect answer. No marks has been awarded for questions left unanswered according to PGIMER exam pattern 2019.
The percentage score of a candidate as per the PGIMER 2019 exam pattern was determined using the following formula
Percentage Score of a candidate= [x/a–y/b]*100
x = correct answers marked by the candidate
y = incorrect answers marked by the candidate
a = correct options in total (out of 1250 response options)
b = incorrect options in total (out of 1250 response options)
Candidates can also refer to the example below to better understand the marking scheme according to PGIMER exam pattern 2019
Let's assume that the question paper of PGIMER has been formulated in such a manner that out of the total 1250 responses 700 responses are correct while the rest 550 are incorrect. Now, suppose a candidate marks 600 correct answers and 200 incorrect answers, then his/her individual percentage score as calculated from the formula above will be:
Percentage Score = [(600/700)-(200/550)]*100 = 49.35%
It is important to note that the figures represented in the above example are completely arbitrary and do not represent any real scores of candidates.
The percentage scores calculated as per the exam pattern of PGIMER 2019 is converted to percentile scores to determine a candidate’s rank and preparation of the merit list along with the determination of the cutoff score. PGIMER Chandigarh declares the result of the entrance examination typically within 24 hours of conducting the examination.
