NEET UG is conducted for admission to over 1 lakh MBBS and 27,618 BDS seats offered by the government, private, central, and deemed universities located in the state. Apart from MBBS and BDS, based on state rank NEET 2025, admission is granted to AYUSH courses and 603 BVSc & AH courses. The state admission committees conduct state counselling on the basis of the NEET rank list 2025 state wise. As per the standardized practice, NEET 2025 qualified candidates must go through the eligibility criteria and fill out the application forms. When will state rank of NEET be declared - Highlights

  • It must be noted that the state rank list is released after the announcement of NEET result.

  • Before the commencement of the state-level allotment process, states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana releases the list of candidates passing Class 12 from the particular state. The list is released on the basis of information provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

  • All interested students must fill out the application form on or before the last date. Based on that, the provisional NEET state-wise merit list 2025 is prepared.

  • Such aspirants included in the merit list can report for document verification sessions, generally conducted in offline mode, along with the relevant documents/certificates.

  • Thereafter, the state authority publishes final state merit lists of NTA NEET, which is the source for calling eligible aspirants for state-level counselling and admission process.

  • States like Tamil Nadu usually release a separate merit list for government and private colleges for admission to undergraduate medical courses.

  • Since, the counselling for AFMC, Pune is done separately, therefore, the merit list for the institute is released separately by the concerned authorities.

  • MCC releases the NEET merit list 2025 for colleges under Central universities including BHU (Banaras Hindu University), AMU (Aligarh Muslim University), DU (Delhi University), and JMI (Jamia Milia Islamia) for admissions.

NEET state wise merit list 2025 - Tie-breaking criteria

In case two or more candidates secure the same marks in the entrance examination and apply in the same state then the below-mentioned tie-breaking criteria is applied

  • Candidates with higher marks or percentile scores in Biology will be ranked higher.
  • If the tie remains, candidates with higher marks or percentile scores in Chemistry will be given preference.
  • If the tie persists, higher marks or percentile scores in Physics will determine the rank.
  • If the tie is still unresolved, candidates with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across all subjects will be prioritised,
  • If necessary, a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers specifically in Biology will be the next deciding factor.
  • If the tie continues, candidates with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers in Chemistry will be ranked higher.
  • As a final criterion, candidates with a lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers in Physics will secure the higher rank.

The NEET application form usually opens in February and the last date is usually in March . The exam is generally held in May . The form is filled online on the official NTA NEET website.

For the SC category , you need at least 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12 to be eligible. The minimum age required is 17 years , and there is no upper age limit .

You can fill the NEET form only through the official NTA website when the registration starts.
