NEET MDS Cut off 2020 – National Board of Examinations (NBE) will set the cutoff of NEET MDS 2020 to shortlist the candidates for admission to Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) course. NEET MDS cut off 2020 is the minimum percentile which must be secured to qualify the entrance test. The minimum qualifying percentile of NEET MDS 2020 for general category is 50th percentile, while that for SC/ST/OBC aspirants, it is 40th percentile. The scores corresponding to the NEET MDS cut off 2020 will be announced along with the result on January 20, in online mode. It will mention the scores which must be obtained by the dental graduates to participate for counselling process. The cutoff will be calculated on the basis of NEET MDS marking scheme specified by the regulatory body.

Based on the NEET MDS 2020 cut off, NBE will prepare the merit list for 50% All India Quota seats (for admission to around 243 PG dental seats). The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the seat allotment process for 50% AIQ, all deemed/central universities, ESIC and other colleges according to NEET MDS cutoff 2020. Also, the respective state counselling authorities will also determine the cutoff scores for granting admission to 50% state quota seats in government dental and private universities/colleges/institutes located in the state. It must be noted by aspirants that securing the minimum cut off scores does not guarantee admission to postgraduate dental courses. For admission to MDS colleges, students must participate in NEET MDS counselling for All India Quota and State Quota seats. The admission will be done strictly on the basis of merit rank, preferences filled and seat available.

As mentioned above, the cutoff of NEET MDS is the minimum qualifying percentile which must be secured to pass the entrance exam. NEET MDS 2020 cut off varies for various categories. Candidates can check NEET MDS 2020 cutoff for different categories from the table below.

Factors determining NEET MDS 2020 Cut off

The cut off percentile will be derived based on the official marking scheme which mentions that four (4) marks will be awarded for every correct response, while one (1) mark will be deducted for each wrong attempt and no marks for unanswered questions. The other factors which helps in determining the NEET MDS cutoff 2020 are below-mentioned.

NEET MDS 2020 Cutoff – Percentile Vs Marks

Aspirants who secures equal to or more than the qualifying percentile will be considered eligible for admission to MDS courses. To qualify the NEET MDS 2020 exam, candidates belonging to general category must secure at least 50th percentile, while 40th percentile for SC/ST/OBC aspirants. Last year, the equivalent scores to the NEET MDS cutoff for general category was 250, while for SC/ST/OBC, it was 215. Aspirants from general PWD category were suppose to secure the cutoff marks of 232 for 45th percentile.

A percentile rank shows the performance of the candidate in comparison to others, while a percentage rank shows how well a candidate has performed. Percentile ranks are commonly used to clarify the interpretation of marks on the standardised tests, whereas, the percentage of marks is simply calculated based on the marks obtained out of the total marks. Types of NEET MDS Cut off 2020

The cutoff of NEET MDS 2020 will be considered for admission to following postgraduate dental courses:

  • 50% All India Quota seats (excluding Jammu & Kashmir)
  • 50% State Quota seats (including Jammu & Kashmir)

In order to be eligible to participate for NEET MDS counselling for 50% All India Quota seats, aspirants need to secure the minimum qualifying percentile declared by NBE. Only those candidates who will secure the minimum cutoff scores for 50% AIQ seats will be included in the merit list.

For the year 2019, the 50% All India Quota cut off percentile for each category was same of qualifying NEET MDS cut off. The previous year cut off for 50% AIQ is mentioned below in the table.

NEET MDS 2020 – Tie Breaking Procedure

In case the marks of two or more candidates will be equal, then the authority will use the following inter-se merit process to determine the merit position:

  • Number of correct responses: Aspirants with more number of correct responses in the test will be placed at higher rank
  • Date of birth: If the first tie-breaker will fail, then the age of candidates will be considered. Students older in age will be allotted better rank in the merit list

Revision of NEET MDS Cut off 2020

In order to fill the sufficient number of vacant seats, the Central Government in consultation with Dental Council of India will lower the NEET MDS cutoff percentile and corresponding marks. In the previous year, the authority had lowered the cutoff percentile due to the number of candidates in the respective categories were three times less than the number of seats left vacant. NEET MDS cutoff for general category was lowered to 25.835th percentile with the marks equals to 172. While, the qualifying percentile for SC/ST/OBC candidates were lower to 15.835th with corresponding marks of 140. NEET MDS Cut off Rank for admission

The cut off rank for admission signifies the merit rank at which admission to MDS courses closed for UR, SC, ST, and OBC. As per previous year data, the last rank of the general category was 270 for admission to MDS course under 50% All India Quota seats, while the NEET MDS cut off rank 2017 for UR category was 290. Candidates can check the 50% AIQ closing rank of each category in NEET MDS 2018 and NET MDS 2017 from the graph below.

NEET MDS Merit List 2020

NBE will prepare the NEET MDS 2020 merit list on the basis of cut off scores. The authority will release the merit list for All India Quota seats and state-wise merit list. For admission to dental colleges, the rank list will be prepared as listed below:

  • All India NEET MDS rank: It includes the overall merit rank of all the candidates who appeared for NEET MDS 2020
  • All India 50% Quota rank: This list shows the merit position of aspirants amongst all the candidates who have qualified in the entrance exam and are eligible for 50% AIQ seats
  • All India 50% Quota Category rank: This is the merit position of candidates in the respective categories (OBC/SC/ST), as chosen by students while filling the NEET MDS application form 2020, amongst the aspirants eligible for 50% AIQ seats
  • State Quota rank: State quota rank, state category rank, benefit of in-service candidates, rural posting (if applicable) and other will be determined by the designated authority of the particular state

NEET MDS Counselling 2020

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is conducting the counselling for admission to 50% All India Quota seats, deemed and central universities/colleges. In order to be eligible for counselling, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying NEET MDS 2020 cut off as prescribed by NBE. To participate for NEET MDS 2020 counselling, aspirants have to register themselves online by entering the required details. During the registration process, they have to fill their preferences of colleges as well as courses. On the basis of these preferences, NEET MDS rank and availability of seats, the seat allotment process will be done. Once the admission will be granted, candidates must report at the allotted college for verification of documents and completion of admission procedure.

Dear Chandra, you haven't mentioned the kind of msitake that happened in the application form. Neverthless, NBE will start its correction window tentatively in the 2nd week of November and you can edit your application. Having said that not all the fields can be modified. You cannot make corrections to your Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Category, Nationality, Mobile Number, Email Id and Exam City. If your error is one amongst these, you may have to re register with new Mobile number and Email Id. This may include another payment. with internship you need to full fill  others eligibility criteria:

nationality should be indian

must passed the bds course

A candidate should have a provisional or permanent registration certification issued by DCI or State Dental Council (SDC) by March 31 of the particular academic year.

If the test city is shown in the application then it will be available there is no doubt about it. If you have selected a test centre from the list of test centres available in the application then you will be allotted from them for sure. Therefore you need not worry about it.
