NEET MDS Cut off 2019 – National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released a revised NEET MDS 2019 cutoff on April 4 with the lowered cutoff. As per NEET MDS 2019 revised cutoff, the qualifying score for the general category is now 172 (down from 250), 140 (from 215) for SC, ST and OBC category, and 156 (from 232) for PwD candidates. As per the official notice released by the authority, the candidates will be able to download their revised scorecards from the official website by April 10, 2019. Previously, the original cutoff of NEET MDS 2019 was released on January 14, along with the result. The authority has set NEET MDS 2019 cut off to shortlist the candidates for admission to Masters of Dental Surgery courses. Aspirants securing more than or equal to the minimum cut off of NEET MDS 2019 is considered qualified. Earlier, the qualifying cut off for general category students was 50 percentile, while that for SC/ST/OBC categories was 40 percentile. The cut off marks equivalent to the percentile was declared along with the NEET MDS result on January 14 in online mode. Based on the NEET MDS cut off 2019, the authority has prepared the merit list for 50% All India Quota seats (for admission to around 243 MDS seats). Moreover, the cut off is used by the state counselling authorities for admission to government and private universities/colleges located in the state. Revised NEET MDS Cut off 2019
In order to fill the sufficient number of vacant seats, the Central Government in consultation with Dental Council of India has lowered the NEET MDS 2019 cut off percentile and scores. As per the official notice released by NBE, the revised cut off stands as 25.835 percentile for the general category, 15.835 percentile for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and for PwD candidates it is 20.835 percentile. In order to secure admission in the MDS courses, candidates are required to secure minimum required percentile. Last year, the cut off percentile of each category was lowered by 29.735th percentile. The cut off percentile for general category candidates was reduced from 50 to 20.265, followed by 10.265 percentile for SC/ST/OBC and 15.265 for general PwD categories. NEET MDS 2019 Cut off – Determining Factors
The cut off of NEET MDS 2019 will be derived on the basis of official marking scheme under which 4 marks will be allotted for every correct answer, while 1 mark will be deducted for a wrong attempt and no mark will be given for unanswered questions. Besides the marking scheme, the factors which will be responsible for determining the cut off scores are as follows:

NEET MDS 2019 Cut off – Percentile Vs Marks
Candidates who secure equal to or more than the minimum qualifying cut off is considered eligible for admission. To qualify in NEET MDS 2019, general category aspirants need to secure 50 percentile, while 40 percentile must be obtained by SC/ST/OBC students. Last year, 50 percentile was equal to 233 cut off marks and 40 percentile was equalled to 204 marks out of a total 960 marks. A percentile rank shows the performance of the candidate in comparison to others, while a percentage rank shows how well a candidate has performed. Percentile ranks are commonly used to clarify the interpretation of marks on the standardised tests, whereas, the percentage of marks is simply calculated based on the marks obtained out of the total marks. Types of NEET MDS Cut off 2019
The NEET MDS 2019 cut off will be used for admission to postgraduate dental courses offered under the following:
- 50% All India Quota seats (excluding Jammu & Kashmir)
- 50% State Quota seats (including Jammu & Kashmir)

In order to be eligible to participate for NEET MDS counselling for 50% All India Quota seats, aspirants need to secure the minimum qualifying percentile declared by NBE. Only those candidates who will secure the minimum cut off scores for 50% AIQ seats will be included in the merit list.

In case the marks of two or more candidates will be equal, then the authority will use the following inter-se merit process to determine the merit position:
- Number of correct responses: Aspirants with more number of correct responses in the test will be placed at higher rank
- Date of birth: If the first tie-breaker will fail, then the age of candidates will be considered. Students older in age will be allotted better rank in the merit list

The cut off rank for admission signifies the merit rank at which admission to MDS courses closed for UR, SC, ST, and OBC. As per previous year data, the last rank of the general category was 270 for admission to MDS course under 50% All India Quota seats, while the NEET MDS cut off rank 2017 for UR category was 290. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is conducting the counselling for admission to 50% All India Quota seats, deemed and central universities/colleges. In order to be eligible for counselling, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying NEET MDS 2019 cut off as prescribed by NBE.
