hi, Id like to know how FMGE works as in, what happens if and when one passes the exam? thank you so much. Im a littlw unaware of the process

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 27th Jul, 2020

hi,

see fmge exam is conducts by national board of examination i.e NBE india. this is basically a registration exam which conducts by the nbe for students of India who have done mbbs courses from  foreign medical colleges. now coming to the schedule of the exam it happens two times a year, i.e June and December sessions. eligibility criteria for appearing in fmge exam is,

Applicants must be either an Indian national or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).

The candidates should have the necessary primary medical qualification and must obtain their MBBS degree before the mentioned  period for a particular session. The MBBS degree of the FMGs must be awarded by institutions included in the World Directory of Medical Schools which is  listed by World Health Organization (WHO) or an institution duly attested by the India embassy concerned for the candidates to be recognized as medical practitioners in India.

you must have all the documents which is needed to seat for fmge exam.

Candidates with a postgraduate medical degree obtained in the countries of Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand and the United States of America need not appear in FMGE 2019 screening test as they can directly register with MCI/SMC.

now after clearing the fmge exam you would get a qualifying certificate from National Board of Examinations, which is used to temporary registration with the Medical Council of India. The next step would require the candidate to register with the concerned State Medical Council with required documents like  xerox copy of fmge marksheet , mbbs pass certificate issued by competent authority etc.

After writing your FMGE exam, you could visit the http://www.mciindia.org website to see the list of hospitals approved for candidates to do their compulsory internship.

Hello there!

Yes, there is no state quota in  FMGE, but the category quota holds a significant role in FMGE exam. The category quota provides reservation to the candidates who fall under SC/ST/OBC/PwD.
