    GNM is a 3 years and 6 months diploma level course with a mandatory internship of 6 months. Candidates who passed the 10+2 examination from a recognised board with science subjects (Physics, Biology, and Chemistry) can apply for the GNM nursing course. The GNM course is designed to train and educate the candidates in the field of general nursing and midwifery. It covers subjects that include anatomy, microbiology, community health nursing, physiology, pharmacology, and others.


    ANM is a two-year undergraduate course. It can be extended to three academic years, including the six months of the internship depending on the institution or college. ANM focuses on the skills necessary for candidates to provide basic medical care and treatment. In order to be eligible for ANM course, candidates should have cleared Class 12 with a minimum score of 45% marks.     ANM full form

    ANM full form is Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery. The course duration is 2 years. Depending on the institution, the ANM course can be extended to 3 academic years including a six month internship. The course covers basic healthcare skills by providing best treatment to the patients. Candidates who apply for the ANM course must be at least 17 years old and the maximum age limit is 35 years.     Difference between ANM and GNM

    ANM and GNM are two top diploma nursing programmes available for 10+2 candidates. The course duration of ANM is 2 years.     Eligibility criteria: GNM requires candidates who have passed 10+2 with English and have obtained a minimum of 40% marks. While candidates with 10+2 exams with a minimum cumulative score of 45% are eligible for the ANM course. The applicant must be at least 17 years old.

    The ANM admission process will be done through counselling which is held at the state, national, or college levels.
