The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is conducted for foreign-trained medical graduates who wish to practice medicine in India. The screening test is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The FMGE exam analyses both the medical knowledge and the clinical proficiency of candidates, ensuring they meet the standards required for medical practice in India. The FMGE June 2025 exam is over and december 2025 session will be conducted on 17th January 2026.

FMGE is a two-part computer-based examination, held biannually in June and December. It comprises 300 multiple-choice questions, spread over two sessions i.e. 2 hours and 30 mins each (5 hours in total). As per the FMGE exam pattern, each session contains 150 questions with no negative marking and one mark awarded for every right answer, assessing a broad spectrum of medical disciplines. Success in both sessions is imperative to pass the exam.
