India’s education landscape has faced a gigantic lapse since the extortion of NEET UG 2024 results. Shortly after the NEET UG 2024 controversy claiming paper leak, unfair distribution of grace marks and irregularities in the test, entrance exams like UGC NET and NEET PG also came onto the radar, resulting in the postponement, cancellation and eventually leaving the aspirants with anger and frustration. While all this chaos has been going around, FMGs are worried about whether or not, NBE will conduct FMGE June session on its decided date.

Will FMGE 2024 Exam Be Postponed?
FMGE exam postponed

As per the NBEMS calendar, FMGE 2024 exam date is July 6. Initially, the board decided to conduct the screening test on June 30, but it was later pushed to July. While the reduction of the FMGE 2024 internship to one year came as a relief, students are concerned about the possibility of a delay in the screening test. Aspirants appearing for the FMGE test also took their concerns to the social media platform, ‘X’. Read FMGE latest news and update below.

Is FMGE exam postponed?

Considering that the NBE postponed the NEET PG 2024 exam just 11 hours before the date, a delay in the FMGE June session is highly expected. However, according to the Health Ministry, the decision to postpone NEET PG 2024 was taken as a precautionary measure. The NEET UG controversy is nowhere near its end, but assuming that everything goes smoothly with NEET PG in the coming days, FMGE 2024 will not be postponed.

FMGE news today: Students’ take on the screening test

Several students expressed their concern over the FMGE exam being postponed on ‘X’. Check some of the tweets of FMGs below.

FMGE exam postponed: Issues in transparency

Several FMGs claim irregularities in the screening test that are mostly left unnoticed by the authorities. Lack of transparency in the FMGE 2024 exam has been a major concern of the aspirants over the years. This resulted in the demand to release the FMGE 2024 answer key. However, as per Minu Bajpai, NBE vice-president and executive director, "Releasing the answer key will lead to misuse of the questions by the coaching centres as it will give them an opportunity to understand the exam pattern. Moreover, we would like to maintain the privacy of the question bank."

Adding to this, “According to Rule 9.7 of the FMGE Information Bulletin, 2022, the FMGE is a “proprietary exam owned by the NBEMS”. As a result, candidates are prohibited from “reproducing, transmitting or publishing any or some contents of this exam, in whole or in part, in any form or by any means verbal or written, electronic or mechanical for any purpose whatsoever. NBEMS shall not entertain any request for sharing any content of the examination including answer keys/answer sheets.”

Drop in FMGE exam pass percentage

Every year, the FMGE pass percentage sees a massive drop, causing another concern to the FMGs. In the previous session conducted on January 20 this year, a total of 38,535 medicos appeared in the screening test, out of which, 30,046 (77.97%) did not manage to qualify. While 693 students were marked absent, the FMGE results of 15 candidates were withheld.

Expressing concerns about the low passing percentage of FMGE, Andrews Matthews, President of the Foreign Medical Graduate Parents’ Association says, "UG students are being asked PG-level questions. What is the basis on which the question paper is set? Because of this secrecy, we cannot be sure if students truly scored the marks that appear in their results, as there is no way to cross-check. Because of these issues, it becomes very easy to hide corruption and tampering,”

The admit cards for FMGE 2024 will be issued on July 3 for registered aspirants. The NBE conducts the FMGE 2024 screening test for Indian citizens, overseas citizens of India (OCI) possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution abroad for obtaining a provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council.

Have a question related to FMGE ?

Hello,

If you gave your name in the FMGE 2026 form as per Aadhaar and other documents, but your passport has a different full name or surname, then there is a real chance of a name-mismatch problem.

Here is the simple picture:

1. FMGE does not allow name changes after submission.
The name you used in the application cannot be edited later.

2. Your ID proof must match the name on your FMGE application.
If the passport name and application name do not match, the exam centre can refuse entry.
This is also a common issue during document verification after the exam.

3. A mismatch in surname or full name is risky.
FMGE is very strict about name matching, so this can create a problem for you.

There is risk, but it is not hopeless. If you act now and prepare proper documents, you may be able to avoid problems during the exam or verification.

Hope it helps !

Hello,

If there is a spelling mistake in your FMGE passing certificate , you should contact the National Board of Examinations (NBE) , which issues the certificate. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Write an application to NBE explaining the mistake clearly.

    • Mention your name, roll number, exam session, and the correct spelling.

  2. Attach supporting documents , such as:

    • A copy of your FMGE pass certificate (with the error)

    • A valid ID proof (Aadhaar, passport, etc.) showing the correct spelling

    • Your MBBS degree or other educational documents for verification

  3. Send the documents to NBE through email or post.

  4. Wait for their response. NBE will verify your documents and issue a corrected certificate if the mistake is genuine.

It’s best to keep copies of all emails and documents you send.

Hope it helps !

Hello,

If you have an MBBS from Nepal and haven't passed the FMGE, you have several options for further courses abroad, including pursuing a postgraduate degree in countries like the UK, the USA, and Australia, which may not require the FMGE to practice there.

I hope it will clear your query!!

Hello nivedita bm,

For FMGE, passport is the primary form of identification, you must apply using your name exactly as it appears on your passport. If your passport does not have your surname on it and your other documents do, You might face issues during verification.

So, to avoid such problems, you can either prepare a notarized "one and the same person" affidavit linking both names, from your passport and your other documents, or update your passport with your surname to avoid any problems during your FMGE exams.

I hope this will help you.

Hello Aspirant,

Yes, your 54.6% score in the FMGE July 2025 exam is above the required 50% passing mark for the general category. This qualifies you to apply for a provisional medical license from the NMC. To be eligible for INICET and JIPMER , you must have a valid MBBS degree, complete your one-year internship, and possess an NMC registration number.
