The NMC has refused to accept the compensatory certificates obtained by FMGs from their parent institutes abroad for the online classes. Also, the NMC has declared a 2-year internship for FMGE, citing that it may be extended to even 3 years if required. FMGE internship rule 2024 highlights

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has established the FMGE internship rules for 2024 to ensure that foreign medical graduates (FMGs) gain the necessary training and experience to practice medicine in India effectively. Some of the highlights of the FMGE internship rule 2024 are as follows -

  • FMGs who have attended their classes online are maliciously obtaining compensatory certificates from their parent universities and hence will not be accepted.

  • The FMGE internship will be of 2 to 3 years and must be finished within two years of passing the FMGE exam. However, through its public notice on June 19, the NMC has decided to reduce the internship time to 1 year

  • FMGs must meet the eligibility criteria specified by the respective State Medical Council.

  • State Medical Councils have been instructed by the NMC not to bar FMGs from interning at medical colleges based on their domicile. FMGs meeting the eligibility criteria can complete their internship at any medical college in any state or union territory.

  • Medical institutes and colleges are prohibited from charging any fee for the FMGE internship

  • FMGs serving as interns will receive a stipend equivalent to that of an Indian medical intern during their FMGE 2 year internship

  • The NMC has announced a list of 673 hospitals where FMGs are eligible to complete their 2 years internship for FMGE.

Reason behind the FMGE internship Rule 2024

The National Medical Commission through its public notice stated its reason behind the new FMGE internship rule 2024. The NMC has cited that the FMGs who have attended their classes online are maliciously obtaining compensatory certificates from their parent universities. NMC stated that the medical profession deals with precious human life, and hence the lives of Indian citizens cannot be put at risk by poorly trained medical professionals who are obtaining their certificates maliciously. NMC added that FMGs need to qualify for the FMGE exam and undergo a compulsory rotating medical internship (CRMI) for a period of 2 to 3 years.

Row over FMGE internship rule 2024

A recent dispute has arisen regarding the internship regulations for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) candidates in 2024. The NMC has laid down guidelines for foreign medical graduates (FMGs) to fulfil their internships in India. However, various concerns and objections have been raised by FMGs and medical organisations, sparking a controversy over the FMGE internship rule for 2024.

FMGs have stated that it was NMC which allowed to do online classes during the COVID pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war, but now NMC is doing a 180-degree turn to its own statement. FMGs are against the proposed three-year internship requirement, arguing that it will impose financial burdens on their families. FMGs have also cited that an MBBS degree completion takes 5.5 years and if 3 years of mandatory FMGE internship is implemented, it will alone take almost 9 years to complete an MBBS degree, which is a long time.

Here are the steps to retrieve your lost NEET 2019 scorecard:

Check your Email: Look through your email inbox. Don't forget the spam and promotions folder. There must be an email from NTA mentioning regarding NEET 2019 result or scorecard.

Visit the NTA Website:

Go the official website of NTA.

Look for the section called "NEET".

Look if link is there for download scorecards of previous years. You may be required to provide your application number, birth date and security pin.

Contact NTA Helpdesk:

Send your complaint to the NTA helpdesk through their website or helpline number. Brief your problem clearly and ask for their aid to obtain your scorecard.   Don't forget to remember to be able to offer all your NEET application number, your roll number and other details to them.

If you still cannot retrieve your scorecard by above options, then, you may make use of these alternatives:

Apply through RTI Application: You can apply for an RTI, i.e., a Right to Information application to NTA to get a copy of your scorecard. This, in any case, would be a time-consuming process, but somehow, could be useful.

Contact your coaching institute or college: They would probably have a copy of your scorecard or could help you get it from the NTA.

Don't lose hope and keep trying an attempt to get back your scorecard. Keep trying different ways and don't shy away from taking legal help from the concerned authorities.

If you have a discrepancy between your Date of Birth (DOB) on your medical degree and your NEET scorecard, you need to contact the National Board of Examinations (NBE) immediately to clarify the issue before applying for the FMGE exam in December 2024.as it might like to complicate your admission in future so its better to correct it first then apply to fmge.

Its a big thing DOB of a candidate proves age of any candidate and it is one of the qualification of students who are applying somewhere.

Hy,

Here are some steps you can take to retrieve your score card or obtain a duplicate:

  1. Contact NTA Again : Since you've already contacted the NTA Helpdesk and sent emails, it might be worthwhile to reach out again. Be sure to provide as much detail as possible, such as:

    • Your application number
    • Roll number
    • Date of birth
    • Any relevant details about your original score card
  2. Make sure you are using the official contact channels listed on the NTA website.

  3. Check Online Resources : Visit the official NEET UG website or the NTA website to see if there are any options for downloading your score card directly. Sometimes, previous years' score cards may still be available for download, especially if the website has an archive feature.

  4. Request a Reissue via Email : If your emails to NTA have not received responses, consider:

    • Using a different email address.
    • Sending your request from a professional email or a university email, if applicable.
    • Clearly stating the urgency of your request and referencing any previous correspondence.
  5. Use RTI (Right to Information) : If you still don’t get a response, you can file an RTI application to seek information regarding your score card. This method can sometimes prompt quicker action from government bodies like NTA.

  6. Explore Alternative Documents : If obtaining the score card proves difficult, check if you can submit alternative documentation. Sometimes, other documents proving your NEET score (like admission letters or even official communications) can be considered. Check with the FMGE authorities to see what they accept as substitutes.

  7. Contact Other Students or Forums : Sometimes, students who have faced similar issues can provide valuable advice. Online forums or student groups might have individuals who have successfully retrieved their score cards.

  8. Seek Help from Authorities : If none of the above works, consider reaching out to the FMGE authority directly to explain your situation and ask for guidance on what to do if you cannot produce the score card.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and get the required documentation for your FMGE exam.
