Salient Features of JIPMER Exam Pattern 2020

Candidates can check here the detailed features of the exam pattern of JIPMER 2020-

  • Exam Mode- The entrance exam will be held in the online mode which implies the test will be displayed on the computer screen.

  • Duration and Shifts of JIPMER 2020- Candidates will be given two and a half hour to attempt all the questions. The exam will be conducted in two shifts namely morning and afternoon shift. The morning shift will be conducted from 10.00 AM to 12.30 PM while the timing for the afternoon shift will be from 3.00 PM to 5.30 PM.

  • Shift allocation for JIPMER 2020: There are two shifts, morning and afternoon shift in JIPMER exam wherein

registered candidates will be allocated a shift in a random manner.

  • Medium of JIPMER MBBS 2020- According to the JIPMER 2020 exam pattern, the test will only be available in English. Candidates must note that JIPMER question paper will not be available in any other language.

  • Number of exam cities: The exam is tentatively scheduled to be conducted in 120 cities located across the country.

  • Types of Questions in JIPMER 2020 MBBS- The question paper of JIPMER 2020 contains multiple-choice based questions. Candidates had four alternatives for a question, amongst which a single best response has to be chosen.

  • Total Number of Questions- JIPMER MBBS question paper contains 200 questions which were divided into five sections - Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Logical and Quantitative Reasoning and English Language and Comprehension.

  • JIPMER 2020 Marking Scheme- As per the JIPMER exam pattern 2020, candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct response while one mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. The authorities will not deduct marks for questions left unattempted.

  • Section-wise Distribution of Questions- JIPMER question paper 2020 will consist of 200 questions with 60 questions each will be asked from Physics, Chemistry and Biology while 10 questions will be asked from English Language & Comprehension and Logical & Quantitative Reasoning.

JIPMER Syllabus 2020

JIPMER, Puducherry prepares the syllabus of JIPMER 2020 on the basis of the syllabi prescribed by State Boards and CBSE for Classes 11 and 12. The questions in JIPMER MBBS 2020 entrance exam comprises of questions of Classes 11 and 12 levels. To prepare for JIPMER 2020, candidates must go through the sample papers and previous year question papers of JIPMER MBBS to get a better understanding of the exam pattern. The conducting body will start the mock test one week before the scheduled date of the entrance exam. JIPMER mock test will familiarise candidates with the interface and the question types of JIPMER 2020 exam.

JIPMER MBBS 2020 - Qualifying Marks

JIPMER Puducherry has stipulated the JIPMER qualifying percentile and the candidates will be required to score marks equivalent to the qualifying percentile to be considered qualified for the exam. The category-wise minimum required percentile can be checked in the table given below-

JIPMER MBBS result will be declared in the third week of June 2020. The mode of release of the result will be only online. The admission will be taken for 200 seats (150 in JIPMER Puducherry and 50 in JIPMER Karaikal campus). The counselling for these seats will start from last week of June.

Dear Shruti, yes JIPMER MBBS has been replaced by NEET. So the admission for the 200 MBBS seats of both the branches of JIPMER will be conducted via NEET score. For the benefit of you and lakhs of aspirants, we shall detail the registration process.


  • Indian Nationals, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs, and Foreign Nationals
  • No upper age limit as of now. The Candidate should be at least 17 years by December 31st of 2020
  • You should have completed your 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as your Core Subjects.
  • 50% Aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General Category, 45% for PWD and 40% for OBC,SC,ST Candidates.
  • NIOS and Private Candidates are also eligible

Yes, JIPMER which is the entrance exam held for admission to the MD/MS/ MDS programmes offered at Puducherry campus is held twice a year for post-graduate i.e. ms / md admission ; in two sessions namely January and july session. . Jawahar Lal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry will conduct JIPMER PG 2020 January session on December 8, 2019. The test is a computer based one for admissions to 100 MD/MS seats offered at JIPMER Puducherry.

CAT registration for 2019 started from 7th August and was opened till 25th September. So, it's concluded.

So, let me tell you now onwards there shall be only one entrance test for admission of MBBS and that is NEET. Earlier, AIIMS and JIPMER used to conduct their own entrance test which no longer will take place.
