    Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil has said the upcoming NEET UG 2026 re-exam could delay engineering and pharmacy admissions across the state, as several admission processes are linked to NEET results.

    The Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell had initially aimed to wrap up admissions by June-end, but the June 21 re-test may now shift the academic timeline further.

    Here are the key concerns raised:

    • Engineering admissions may get delayed as many students shift to engineering after NEET results
    • Pharmacy admissions could also be impacted, especially seats linked to the all-India quota
    • The state may not begin certain admission rounds until NEET results are declared
    • Academic schedules of colleges may move beyond the planned timeline
    • Nearly 23 lakh candidates had registered for the original NEET UG 2026 exam

    Patil also noted that admissions in multiple engineering branches and pharmacy seats depend on NEET-based movement of students, making early admission planning difficult.

    Meanwhile, the May 3 NEET UG 2026 exam was cancelled following alleged malpractice concerns, and the re-examination is now scheduled for June 21, while the CBI continues its probe into the irregularities.

    I actually put best of 5 marks based on CBSE ( 90.8%) instead of PCB aggregate (89.2%) during my neet UG registration. I uploaded the original documents of my class 12 marksheet. will it cancel my candidature during my counselling? and do i have to make an affidavit for that, clerical error.

    During NEET UG registration , candidates must enter the PCB aggregate percentage (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and not the “Best of 5” percentage.
