    NEET 2026 attempt limit: What is the maximum limit?

    There is no limit on the number of attempts in NEET 2026. Eligible candidates can appear in the NEET exam as many as they wish. The only criteria in NEET 2026 is eligibility criteria. Candidates must have at least 17 years of age as of December 31, 2026. There is no cap on the number of NEET attempts. Candidates can appear in NEET 2026 as long as they want. However, NEET exam is conducted by NTA once a year. So only a single attempt is allowed in each year for candidates. The single largest medical entrance examination, NEET, is conducted for candidates seeking admissions in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and BVSc & AH and Nursing courses.

    Changes in the NEET attempt limit

    The NEET exam has undergone major changes over the years. In 2017, CBSE, the then conducting body, set a cap on the number of attempts in NEET. The attempt limit for NEET was restricted to 3. Along with the attempt limit, the authority also set the upper age limit in NEET and paused it at a maximum of 25 years for unserved and 30 years for reserved candidates. However, both the restrictions including age and attempt limit for NEET were removed by NMC and candidates were allowed to appear in NEET as many times as they want. At the same time, the cap on upper age limit in NEET was also revoked.

    NEET age limit 2026

    As per the NTA guidelines, there is no restriction on upper age limit for NEET. However, the conducting body has set a minimum age of 17 years as of December 31, 2026 for all categories. Before attaining this age limit, no candidate will be allowed to appear in NEET. It is a mandatory guideline set by NTA for all candidates.

    Minimum age limit for NEET

    Aspirants must have a minimum age of 17 years at the time of admission. Only such candidates will be allowed to pay the tuition fee at the time of admission process.

    There is no maximum age limit for NEET 2026. Candidates who have attained the age of 17 years can take the NEET exam. In addition to this, there is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET 2026. Eligible candidates can take the exam as many times as they want.
