    • The reproduction occurs through both asexual and sexual means. 
    • Budding is the common method of asexual reproduction. 
    • Sexual reproduction occurs through the formation of gametes. 
    • Cnidarians exhibit metagenesis, i.e., alternation of generation. There are two body forms:
    • Polyp: It is fixed and sessile form with mouth and tentacles facing upwards (Cylindrical shaped). It reproduces asexually by budding to form the second body form.
    • Medusa: It is free-floating form with mouth and tentacles facing downwards (Umbrella shaped). It reproduces sexually to form polyps.
