Dr. Jacintha R. Mariyappa is a distinguished academician, psychiatric nurse, and mental health counsellor with over two decades of experience in nursing education and clinical practice. She currently serves as the Principal of East Point School of Nursing, Bengaluru. A gold medallist in MSc Psychiatric Nursing from Father Muller College, she holds a PhD from Sri Ramachandra Medical University, Chennai. She is a registered counsellor specialising in child and adolescent mental health.

She has received numerous accolades, including the “Mother Teresa Award” for Best Principal (2018) and Best Paper Presenter at the Sigma Theta Tau Convention (2020). Internships are designed to provide hands-on exposure to all key nursing departments, including Medical-Surgical, Pediatric, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Community Health, and Psychiatric Nursing. Students undergo their clinical training at the East Point Medical College Hospital, a 1000-bedded multi-speciality hospital, offering diverse patient-care scenarios and real-time learning.

The internship duration is 3 months for GNM students.
