The NEET UG 2025 exam will be conducted on May 4, 2025 and it is expected that this year, over 23 lakh students have registered for the NEET 2025. The last date for NEET registration 2025 was March 7. Due to several technical glitches in the NEET official website, neet.nta.nic.in, and NEET payment failure issues, it was speculated that the NTA might announce an extension in the registration deadline. However, NTA on March 9 opened the NEET application form correction window which was available till March 11, 2025. With this closing of the correction window for NEET 2025, it is clear that the last date for NEET 2025 registration will not be extended.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has activated the NEET UG 2026 application form link on the official website. Students can register themselves at neet.nta.nic.in.

The NTA had already clarified that the registration date for NEET 2025 will not be extended under any circumstances. The NTA through it's notice emphasised that the NEET registration process will be concluded on the specified date and that no further opportunities for registration will be provided once the deadline has passed. Therefore, NTA urged all candidates interested in appearing for NEET 2025 to complete their registrations well before the closing date.
No! The NEET registration date is not extended. Generally, the NTA announces the extension of the NEET registration deadline a few days before starting the NEET correction window. Earlier, NTA released a notification regarding the NTA NEET UG correction window and confirmed that the NEET correction window 2025 will be available from March 9. The correction window for NEET 2025 closed on March 11 and with this, it is pretty much clear that the NEET registration date will not be extended now.
Some of the reasons behind why NTA is not extending the NEET registration last date 2025 are as following -
NEET is the biggest medical entrance examination, with lakhs of candidates applying each year. The NEET 2024 was surrounded by several controversies, and the integrity of the NEET UG exam was questioned at several times. The NTA needs to maintain a fixed schedule to ensure the integrity of the biggest medical entrance examination in India by sticking to its already fixed NEET exam 2025 dates.
Providing an extension to the NEET registration period may lead to accusations of favoritism or unequal opportunities. By sticking to a strict deadline, the NTA wants to ensure a sense of transparency and fairness among the candidates who have registered.
By following the set NEET 2025 registration deadline, the NTA encourages candidates to stay focused and complete their applications on time. Extending the date could result in a last-minute rush that may lead to technical errors or other issues.
Although the last date for NEET 2025 registration has not been extended, the NTA has extended the last date of NEET UG registration in the past. The historical data of NEET registration extension is provided below.
Year | Original last date for registration | NEET registration extended date |

As per various media sources, the total registration in NEET 2025 has been around 23 lakh. Till March 5, 2025, over 20 lakh candidates had already registered for NEET 2025. Students who are wondering, "How many students registered for NEET 2025 till now?" must know that the NTA will soon release the complete data of NEET registration 2025 number of students at the NTA official website, neet.nta.nic.in.
