Midbrain or Mesencephalon

• The midbrain connects cerebral hemispheres with cerebellum. 
• The midbrain lies between the pons of hindbrain and the forebrain.
• The most dorsal part of the midbrain is called the tectum.

• It is made up of one pair called superior colliculi and the other pair is called inferior colliculi.
