    NEET 2025 changes in exam pattern

    One of the most notable changes in the NEET 2025 has been made in the NEET 2025 exam pattern. As per the NEET exam pattern changes 2025, the NTA has eliminated Section B, which previously contained optional questions. As of now, the exam comprises a total of 180 multiple choice questions which are mandatory and distributed as follows:

    NEET exam changes 2025 by NTA: Change in NEET exam duration

    As the NTA has removed Section B from the NEET question paper, the NEET 2025 exam duration has also been reduced. Candidates are now required to answer the questions in 3 hours (180 minutes) only. This NEET 2025 exam changes made by the authority in the exam duration requires candidates to prepare for NEET more effectively and practice time management.

    NEET changes introduced this year 2025: Tie-breaking policy

    The NTA has also revised the NEET tie-breaking criteria. In previous year’s factors such as candidate’s age and application number were considered, however, these were removed last year. As per the NEET 2025 changes introduced this year in tie-breaking policy, a new rule has been established. The NEET 2025 changes in tie-breaking policy can be checked below.

    • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be given preference.

    • If the tie is not resolved, candidates with higher marks in Chemistry will be considered.

    • In case the tie still remains, the candidate with higher marks in Physics will be preferred.

    • If the tie persists, then the candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect and correct answers in all subjects will be preferred.

    • Which will be followed by the candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Biology.

    • In case tie is still not resolved, the candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Chemistry will be given preference.

    • If tie is still not resolved, the candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect and correct answers in Physics will be ranked higher.

    • Lastly, if all the criteria are exhausted, the NEET UG 2025 tie will be resolved by a random process, with the guidance of an independent expert committee.

    NEET 2025 changes made in exam centre selection

    The authority has also made significant changes in the selection of NEET exam centres. As per the NEET 2025 exam centre changes in selection criteria, candidates have to select three cities while filling the NEET application form. This was limited to selecting only two NEET exam cities previously. Also, the choice of NEET 2025 exam cities is limited to the state of permanent address or to the state of present address only. No candidate is allowed to select the NEET exam city out of the state. The number of NEET 2025 exam centres have been reduced to 566.

    NEET 2025 exam changes: Changes done in reporting time

    The NTA has made changes in the NEET exam centre opening time. NEET 2025 exam centres will be opened three hours before the commencement of the NEET exam. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the NEET exam centre after 1:30 PM. This change will help the authorities in proper frisking of the candidates not following the NEET dress code.

    The authority has made changes in the NEET photograph requirements. For the NEET 2025 application process, candidates must upload a scanned copy of their recent passport size photograph, which should have been taken after January 1, 2025. Along with the photograph, they will also need to submit scanned images of their signature, impressions of both left and right-hand fingers and thumb, and other NEET required documents. These documents include a citizenship certificate (if applicable), a social category certificate or proof of application, class 10 marksheet, class 10 passing certificate or an equivalency certificate (for CGPA or grade conversion to percentage) and PwD certificate (if applied under PwD quota).
