State/UT

NEET 2026 State Quota Eligibility (As Mentioned in the Video)

Andhra Pradesh

• Studied for 4 consecutive academic years in the local area or resided in the state for 4 years before the qualifying exam.

• If not local, 7 years of study in Andhra Pradesh; local area decided based on where the candidate studied most or last.

• 7 years of residence in the state even without schooling also qualifies.• Local Status Certificate through MRO is required.

• Also eligible: candidates with 10 years' residence in AP, children/spouse of Andhra Pradesh Government, PSU or local body employees.

Arunachal Pradesh

• Children of APST (Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe) candidates.

• Children of non-APST State Government, AIS, Central Government or PSU employees.

• Candidates residing in Arunachal Pradesh for 3 years or more.

• Must have passed Class 12 from a school in Arunachal Pradesh.

Assam

• Studied from Class 7 to Class 12 in Assam.

• Candidate or parent should be a permanent resident of Assam for at least 20 years.

• Candidate must be medically fit.

Bihar

• Parents are residents of Bihar

• Parents are registered refugees in Bihar

• Parents working for Bihar Government.

• Parents working for the United Nations and posted in Bihar.

• Parents are Central Government/PSU employees posted in Bihar.

• Parents belonged to Bihar cadre before Bihar-Jharkhand reorganisation.

Chandigarh

• Studied Classes 10, 11 and 12 in recognised Chandigarh schools.

• Parents residing in Chandigarh for at least 5 years (Resident Certificate required).

• Parents serving in Central/State Government or Chandigarh Administration and posted in Chandigarh for 3 years or more.

• Children of serving/retired defence personnel whose permanent address was Chandigarh at the time of joining service.

Chhattisgarh

• Candidate born in Chhattisgarh, or

• Parent is a resident of Chhattisgarh, or

• One parent works in Chhattisgarh/Central Government while residing in the state.

Dadra & Nagar Haveli

• Priority 1: Parent domiciled in UT + candidate studied Classes 9-12 there.

• Priority 2: Parent domiciled in UT irrespective of school board.

• Priority 3: Parent is a deputation/transfer employee of UT/Central Government/PSU posted for 5 years or more, and candidate studied Classes 10 & 12 in the UT.

Delhi

• Passed Class 11 and 12 under 10+2 through CBSE/CISCE/Jamia Millia Islamia/equivalent.

• School must be situated within NCT of Delhi.

Goa

• Passed Class 12 from a Goa school/college.

• Continuous residence in Goa for 10 years before application (5 years if parents/grandparents were born in Goa).

• Children of Goa Government deputationists posted outside Goa.

• Eligibility remains valid for the next 3 years.

Gujarat

• Indian citizen.

• Gujarat domicile for 85% state quota seats.

• Passed Class 12 from recognised Gujarat Board/CBSE/ICSE/IB/NIOS schools in Gujarat.

• Passed Class 12 from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) outside Gujarat also eligible under specified conditions.

• Studied till Class 8 in Gujarat JNV also qualifies.

• OCI/PIO candidates must submit prescribed proof.

Haryana

• Must be a resident/domicile of Haryana for the 85% government quota.

Himachal Pradesh

• Must be a domicile of Himachal Pradesh.

• Non-Himachal candidates can apply for management quota.

• Bonafide residents whose parents are posted outside the state are eligible.

• Children of defence personnel, ex-servicemen and paramilitary personnel are exempt from schooling criteria.

Jammu & Kashmir

• Permanent resident of Jammu & Kashmir.

• For BDS, must pass Class 12 from recognised institutions in J&K.

• Sports, Defence, Poor & Backward Area categories require minimum 15th percentile in NEET.

• PMB category candidates must fulfil open merit conditions.

Jharkhand

• Indian citizen.

• Permanent local resident of Jharkhand.

Karnataka

• Karnataka domicile candidates eligible for government quota seats.

• Multiple domicile clauses apply; candidates should verify the applicable clause in the official counselling notification.

Kerala

• Keralite candidates.

• Non-Keralite Category I candidates.

• Children of Central Government/Defence employees posted in Kerala.

• Children of Kerala Government employees serving for at least 2 years.

• Candidates with 5 years' residence in Kerala during the previous 12 study years.• Candidates who studied Classes 8-12 in Kerala.

Madhya Pradesh

• Must be a resident of Madhya Pradesh for admission under the 85% state quota.

Maharashtra

• Candidate should be a domicile of Maharashtra or have lived in the state for at least 10 years.

Odisha

• Permanent native of Odisha.• Children of All India Services officers serving in Odisha are also eligible.

Puducherry

• Government quota reserved for UT residents.• Separate provisions for Christian community, Telugu minority and management quota candidates residing in Puducherry.

Punjab

• Bona fide resident of Punjab.

• Studied in Punjab for 5 years, or 2 years immediately before the qualifying examination.

• Children of Government employees, defence personnel, ex-servicemen, minority and NRI candidates are eligible under prescribed provisions.

• If BDS seats remain vacant, non-state quota candidates may be considered.

Rajasthan

• One parent resident of Rajasthan for 10 years, or candidate studied in Rajasthan for 5 years or more.

• Bona fide residents.

• Children of Rajasthan Government employees.

• Children of All India Services officers serving in Rajasthan for more than 3 years.

• Children of employees of Government undertakings/local bodies serving for more than 3 years.

• Children of State University/Education Board employees.

• Children of defence personnel, paramilitary personnel, Rajasthan High Court judges and other eligible categories under prescribed conditions.

Sikkim

• Only Sikkim domicile candidates are eligible.

Tamil Nadu

• Native of Tamil Nadu.

• Nativity Certificate mandatory (Residence Certificate is not a substitute).

• Native candidates studying Classes 6-12 in Tamil Nadu must submit nativity and community certificates.

• Native candidates studying partly or fully outside Tamil Nadu must submit nativity plus either parent's community certificate.

• Non-native candidates studying continuously from Classes 6-12 in Tamil Nadu eligible under Open Category with school bonafide certificate.

• Candidates claiming another state's nativity in NEET cannot claim Tamil Nadu nativity.

Telangana

• Studied in Telangana for 4 consecutive academic years ending with the qualifying examination year, or resided in the state for 4 years immediately before the qualifying examination.

• Certain categories must have appeared for the qualifying examination in Telangana.

Tripura

• Indian citizen and permanent resident of Tripura for 10 years or more before NEET application, not domiciled elsewhere.

• Children of AIS officers and Tripura Government employees posted outside the state.• Parent on deputation to Tripura/Central Government for 3 years or more, with qualifying examination from a Tripura school.

• Wards of ex-servicemen meeting the prescribed residency conditions.• Children of serving defence personnel from Tripura with 5 years' residence before NEET application.

Uttar Pradesh

• Father is an original resident of Uttar Pradesh and candidate is also a resident, or candidate/parent has lived in UP for 3 years or more.

• Children of Government employees.

• Candidates residing abroad with UP forefathers.

• Candidates passing Classes 10 & 12 from Uttar Pradesh may not require domicile if parent's UP address is furnished.

Uttarakhand

• Domicile of Uttarakhand and passed Classes 10 & 12 from recognised institutions.

• Non-domicile candidates who passed Classes 10 & 12 from Uttarakhand are eligible but without reservation benefits.

• Uttarakhand domicile candidates studying outside the state are also eligible.

West Bengal

• Resident of West Bengal for 10 years or more.

• Resident for 10 years and appearing/passed Class 12 in 2026.

• Candidate whose parent is a permanent resident of West Bengal with a permanent home in the state for 10 years or more.
