NEET 2025 rank vs marks: Factors affecting

1. NEET 2025 Exam Difficulty

If the NEET exam's difficulty level is high, most students will score lower, so even a lower mark can give a better rank. If the NEET 2025 exam is easy, many will score high, so you’ll need more marks for a good rank.

2. Number of Appeared Students

Always consider the number of candidates appearing in NEET UG. Since more students means more competition, if more candidates score similar marks, your rank can go down, even if your score is decent.

3. Category (General, OBC, SC, ST)

Students from reserved categories may get a better college at a lower rank compared to general category students.

4. Tie-Breaker Rules

The tie-breaking rules affect the NEET 2025 marks vs ranks.

Dear student,

No, you cannot become a veterinary doctor in India without NEET or another entrance exam. Admission to the BVSc & AH course, which is essential to practice as a veterinary doctor, is mostly through NEET-UG across India—both for central and state quota seats. Some states may allow admission through their own entrance exams (like RPVT, OUAT, AAU VET ), but direct admission without any entrance exam is not valid in recognized colleges. Also, degrees from non-recognized routes are usually not accepted for government jobs or higher studies , so skipping an entrance test isn’t advisable.

Dear student,

With a NEET 2025 score of 402 in the OBC category , your chances for government B.Sc. Nursing and BVSc (Veterinary Science) seats depend heavily on your home state and how competitive the cut-offs are there.

B.Sc. Nursing

You stand a fair chance in some government colleges, especially under state quota , where OBC cut-offs often range between 350–420 marks . States with more seats and lower competition give you better odds, particularly in later counseling rounds.

BVSc (Veterinary)

BVSc cut-offs are usually higher, with OBC seats often requiring 420–480 marks . With 402, it’s slightly below average , so chances in top government colleges are low, but you might get a seat in lower-tier government or private colleges under state quota.

A NEET UG score of 263 in 2025 is estimated to lie between 13,000 and 15,000; All India Rank (AIR). This estimation is derived from the NEET Marks vs Rank data, which indicates that candidates scoring between 259 and 267 marks typically fall within this rank range .

It's important to note that NEET 2025 results have not been officially released yet. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the results by June 14, 2025 . Therefore, the actual rank may vary depending on factors such as the number of candidates, the difficulty level of the exam, and the distribution of scores.

For more personalized and up-to-date estimate, you can use the NEET Rank Predictor tool provided by Careers360.

Dear Barsha,

With a NEET 2025 score of 295 , getting a government MBBS seat through All India Quota (AIQ) is not possible . The cut-off for General category under AIQ is usually around 530–560 marks , and even for OBC, SC, or ST , it's generally above 400 . So 295 falls well below the required range.

You might still qualify for NEET, but admission to a government medical college via AIQ is out of reach at this score.

Your options now include looking into private medical colleges , deemed universities , or alternative medical fields like BDS , BAMS , BHMS , or paramedical courses .

If you belong to a reserved category and your home state has lower cut-offs , you might check state quota options — but even then, chances for MBBS in a government college are slim.
