In case the rank of two or more candidates is equal, then the tie-breaking criteria to break the NEET cut-off qualifying scores will be used. The below-mentioned steps in order of preference are used to break the tie of the NEET result. Last year, the authority cancelled the earlier method of using age to break the tie.
Higher marks in Physics: Aspirants securing higher scores in Physics will be preferred first for the NEET merit list.
Higher marks in Chemistry: If the tie still exists, then the higher marks/percentile of the candidate in Chemistry will be considered.
Higher marks in Biology: If the tie still exists, then the higher scores/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be preferred.
Number of incorrect answers: If the tie is still there, students with less number of incorrect and correct attempted answers will be allotted a better rank.
At last, the tie will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.
