    NBE determines the NEET PG eligibility criteria 2026, that needs to be fulfilled by candidates to be eligible for the exam. As per the NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria, candidates must possess an MBBS degree from an NMC-recognised institution and have valid registration with the NMC or a State Medical Council. The compulsory one-year rotating internship must be completed on or before September 30, 2026. Indian citizens, OCI candidates, and eligible foreign medical graduates who have qualified FMGE can apply. There is no upper age limit.

The information bulletin mentions the requirements for All India Quota (AIQ) 50% seats, Foreign Nationals (FN), Foreign Medical Graduates (FMG) and also common requirements separately.

    The below points mention the NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria which are common for all candidates irrespective of category, nationality, domicile, etc.

    • Educational qualification: Candidates are required to possess an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognised by the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.

    • Certificate of registration: Candidates must have MBBS qualification registration (permanent/provisional) issued by MCI or State Medical Council (SMC) or Medical Council of India (MCI).

    • Internship: As per the eligibility criteria of NEET PG candidates must complete their one-year internship on or before September 30, 2026.

    NEET PG attempt limit

    There is no specified maximum limit on the number of times a candidate can attempt the NEET PG examination. The authority has not specified any age limit for NEET PG 2026. Candidates can attempt the exam as many times as they wish in their pursuit of a postgraduate medical degree.

    Eligibility criteria for NEET PG 2026: AIQ 50% seats

    The below-listed criteria must be fulfilled by the candidates for 50% AIQ seats:

    1. As per the NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria, medical graduates belonging to the state of Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for AIQ 50% seats.

    2. Only those candidates from J&K who have been nominated by the Government of India, under central pool seats, for pursuing MBBS from medical colleges in Jammu & Kashmir are eligible for AIQ 50% seats. These candidates have to submit a duly signed affidavit which declares that they have been nominated by the Government of India under the above-mentioned category.

    NEET PG state quota eligibility criteria

    The following points mention the general eligibility criteria for 50% state quota seats. Some states may have more eligibility requirements than the requirements mentioned below.

    • Candidates must possess a provisional MBBS pass certificate.
    • Candidates must have secured the NEET PG cutoff of that particular year.
    • Candidates must have completed their one-year rotatory internship within the dates stipulated by the state authority.
    • Candidates must possess documents of the Domicile of the state.

    NEET PG eligibility criteria 2026 for Foreign medical graduates

    The authority mentions NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria for those Indian citizens or Overseas citizens who have pursued their Primary Medical Qualifications from Medical colleges that are outside Indian territory. Eligibility criteria for such candidates is mentioned below.

    • Foreign medical graduates must have qualified for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) (Screening Test).

    • Foreign Nationals must get themselves registered with MCI/SMC

    • As per the eligibility criteria of NEET PG 2026, candidates must complete their internship on or before the date specified by the authority.

    • Candidates must bring their FMGE pass certificate issued by NBE on the day of the conduction of NEET PG 2026.

    NEET PG eligibility criteria 2026: Foreign nationals

    Since the year 2019, it is no longer mandatory for Foreign Nationals to be registered with MCI to be eligible for the NEET PG exam. However, Foreign nationals must fulfil the below-mentioned NEET PG 2026 eligibility criteria to appear in the entrance examination.

    • The MCI is authorised to provide temporary registration to candidates. This is in cases where they pay the registration fee. Candidates must note that as per the eligibility criteria of NEET PG, the validity of this registration will be provided only for the Postgraduate course duration. Also, this registration is limited to the medical college/institution in which the candidate has taken admission exclusively for the pursuit of postgraduate studies

    • Foreign Nationals have to be mandatorily registered with the competent registering authority of their country to get temporary registration

    Yes, you are eligible. After completing Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Pathology, you can appear again for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate if you have a valid MBBS degree and registration with the National Medical Commission. However, government rules about funding or seat eligibility may vary.
