    Male Urethra & External Genitalia

    Male Urethra:

    • The male urethra is longer than in the female. 
    • It provides a common pathway for urine and semen.

    External Genitalia:

    • The penis is the male external genitalia.
    • It is an erectable, copulatory, cylindrical organ. 
    • It is made up of three erectable tissues.
    • Two erectable tissues are posterior and made of yellow fibrous ligament and are called the Corpora cavernosa. 
    • One is anterior, spongy and highly vascular Corpus spongiosum.
    • The tip of the penis is highly sensitive and is called the glans penis. 
    • There is a retractile fold of skin on the glans penis and is known as foreskin or prepuce.
    • The erection of the penis is due to rush of arterial blood into sinuses of corpus spongiosum.
