Careers360: Could you briefly introduce yourself and tell us about the programme you pursued at East Point Group of Institutions?

Dr Richulal: My name is Richulal, and I am a proud alumnus of East Point College of Physiotherapy, where I completed my Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from 2019 to 2024. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Physiotherapy at Sheffield Hallam University, United Kingdom. My time at East Point provided me with a strong academic and clinical foundation through a balanced curriculum, hands-on training, and extensive patient exposure. The guidance of experienced faculty, combined with practical learning, helped me develop clinical reasoning, professional ethics, and confidence. The knowledge and skills I gained continue to support me in my postgraduate studies and inspire me to pursue excellence in physiotherapy.

Careers360: When exploring higher education options, what drew you toward East Point Group of Institutions?

Dr Richulal: When I was exploring higher education options, I wanted an institution that offered both academic excellence and strong clinical exposure. East Point College of Physiotherapy stood out because of its well-structured curriculum, experienced faculty, excellent infrastructure, and emphasis on practical learning. The opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience through the attached multi-speciality hospital was a major advantage. I also appreciated the institution's focus on holistic development through workshops, conferences, sports, and extracurricular activities. These factors convinced me that East Point would provide the right environment to build a successful career in physiotherapy, and I am glad I made that choice.

Careers360: How well did the curriculum prepare you for industry demands or higher studies?

Dr Richulal: The curriculum at East Point prepared me exceptionally well for both clinical practice and higher studies. It provided a strong understanding of physiotherapy principles, patient assessment, rehabilitation techniques, and evidence-based treatment approaches. Regular clinical postings and practical sessions allowed me to apply classroom knowledge in real healthcare settings, improving my confidence and clinical decision-making skills. The structured internship further strengthened my practical abilities and professional communication. This comprehensive academic and clinical foundation made my transition to pursuing a Master's degree at Sheffield Hallam University much smoother, enabling me to adapt confidently to an international academic environment.

Careers360: Did you participate in any research projects, internships, workshops, or certification programmes during your time at the institution?

Dr Richulal: Yes, I actively participated in several academic and clinical activities during my undergraduate programme. I completed my compulsory six-month internship at East Point Hospital, where I gained valuable hands-on experience across different physiotherapy specialities while treating patients under expert supervision. I also attended Physiocon twice, which exposed me to the latest research, innovations, and advancements in physiotherapy. Additionally, I participated in workshops that enhanced my practical skills, clinical reasoning, and patient-management techniques. These experiences complemented my classroom learning, broadened my professional perspective, and strengthened my confidence, preparing me well for higher studies and future clinical practice.

Careers360: Were you involved in any clubs, cultural activities, sports, or student-led initiatives? How did those experiences help you grow?

Dr Richulal: Yes, I actively participated in sports and cultural activities throughout my college life. I represented East Point College of Physiotherapy in badminton and also played in a Bangalore-based physiotherapy badminton tournament. I was equally involved in cricket and enjoyed participating in sporting events. During Physio Week, I helped organise and host cultural programmes, which strengthened my leadership, communication, teamwork, and event-management skills. These experiences taught me the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities while building confidence, discipline, and lasting friendships. They contributed significantly to my personal growth and made my college journey enjoyable and memorable.

Careers360: How helpful was the institution's placement support in securing job opportunities?

Dr Richulal: Although I decided to pursue higher studies immediately after graduation, the career guidance and mentorship provided by East Point played a vital role in shaping my future. The faculty encouraged students to explore diverse career opportunities and continuously motivated us to improve our clinical and professional skills. The practical exposure, academic mentoring, and patient interactions prepared me to confidently pursue my Master's degree in the United Kingdom. Careers360: Were there any challenges you faced while transitioning from college to the professional world, and how did you overcome them?

Dr Richulal: The biggest challenge was adapting to a new academic system and cultural environment while pursuing my Master's degree in the United Kingdom. The transition required greater independence, effective communication, and adaptability. Initially, adjusting to different teaching methods and expectations was challenging, but the strong academic and clinical foundation I received at East Point made the process much easier. I remained open to learning, sought guidance whenever needed, and stayed focused on my goals. The confidence, practical knowledge, and professional values I developed during my undergraduate studies helped me successfully overcome these challenges.

Careers360: If you could go back to your college days, is there anything you would do differently?

Dr Richulal: If I had the opportunity to revisit my college days, I would participate more actively in research projects, workshops, conferences, and professional certification programmes. I would also spend more time building professional networks and exploring different specialities within physiotherapy. Although I am happy with the experiences I gained, I now realise that every additional learning opportunity contributes to long-term personal and professional growth. Nevertheless, I am grateful for my journey at East Point, where I developed the knowledge, confidence, and values that continue to support me in my postgraduate education and future career.

Careers360: What advice would you give current students to make the most of their time at East Point?

Attend classes regularly, participate actively in clinical postings, and never hesitate to ask questions or seek guidance from your faculty. Focus equally on developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Take part in workshops, conferences, sports, and cultural activities to enhance your overall personality and professional development. Build strong relationships with your peers and mentors, remain disciplined, and stay committed to continuous learning.
