Candidates who wish to make a career in herbal medicine, yoga therapy, and traditional diagnostics can enrol in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the Ministry of AYUSH. AYUSH stands for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.
To take admission to AYUSH courses in India, candidates are required to qualify the entrance exam, academic qualifications and counselling process. The list of courses under AYUSH is long and offers students a wide variety of career choices to make. Candidates must note that admission to AYUSH Ayurveda courses is granted by qualifying NEET for undergraduate-level courses such as Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS) etc.
For postgraduate level courses such as Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Master of Surgery (MS) Courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy system of medicine, admission is granted on the AIAPGET scores. To pursue undergraduate courses through NEET, candidates must have qualified class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (UR category) and 40% (reserved category) marks. Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects in 10+2.
Average fee: The annual fee for the BAMS course ranges from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 3,20,000.

Higher education options: Candidates can pursue an M.S. (Master of Surgery) (Ayurveda) and an M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) (Ayurveda) in specialisation.
