The Tamil Nadu MBBS admission 2024 is done based on the counselling of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu. The schedule of stray vacancy round of Tamil Nadu NEET admission is released by the authority. Candidates who were not allotted any seat in the previous rounds can register for the stray round and secure their admission.

The authority conducts the online Tamil Nadu NEET 2024 counselling in four rounds. To be eligible for Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling, candidates need to register for the counselling and upon seat allotment, complete the document verification and fee payment. A total of 7883 MBBS and 1987 BDS seats will be granted in Tamil Nadu MBBS admission based on NEET exam. Candidates need to fill out the Tamil Nadu MBBS application form before the last date to participate in the counselling process.
As per the eligibility criteria, NEET-qualified candidates belonging to the Tamil Nadu domicile are eligible for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 admission. DME will release the merit list of Tamil Nadu MBBS mentioning the names of candidates eligible for counselling. Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS merit list will be prepared based on scores in NEET exam.
Tamil Nadu NEET counselling is conducted online for seats under 85% state quota and 100% private colleges. During counselling, applicants need to fill in their preferences of courses and colleges for Tamil Nadu MBBS admission. Based on the choices filled, Tamil Nadu NEET seat matrix, UG rank, reservation, and other factors, DME grants Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission 2024. Tamil Nadu MBBS eligibility criteria 2024
To secure Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 admission, candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria. Check the detailed Tamil Nadu MBBS eligibility criteria below.
Domicile:
- To apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS admission 2024 candidates must belong to the Tamil Nadu domicile.
- Candidates who have studied Class 6 to 12 from schools situated in Tamil Nadu or partly or completely from other states will be required to submit their parents' birth certificate, ration card, and class 10 or 12 certificates as proof of domicile.
- Candidates who do not belong to Tamil Nadu domicile but have completed Class 6 to 12 from the state can apply for TN medical college admission under the open category.
- Other state candidates living in Tamil Nadu can apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission under the open category.
Nationality:
- Indian nationals are eligible to apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission.
- Non-residents of India (NRI) or Persons of Indian origin (PIO) are eligible for management/NRI quota seats.
Age:
Candidates 17 years or above as of December 31, 2024 are eligible for Tamil Nadu NEET admission 2024.
Academic qualification:
- Students must pass class 12 with a minimum 50% marks for the general category for Tamil Nadu MBBS 2024 admission. Students from SC/ST/OBC and PH categories need 40% and 45% marks respectively in class 12 examination.
- Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects in class 12.
- One of the key eligibility criteria of Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 is qualifying the NEET UG exam. Candidates who will secure the NEET 2024 cutoff will be eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS seats in the state. Check the category-wise NEET cutoff below.

Tamil Nadu MBBS application form 2024
DME releases the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 application form in an online mode at tnmedicalselection.net. Candidates are asked to fill in their personal, parents’, academic, contact, and NEET 2024 details in the Tamil Nadu MBBS application form. Students must upload scanned images of their passport-size photograph and signature in the application form of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2024. To submit the online application form for Tamil Nadu NEET 2024 admission, students have to pay an application fee of Rs 500 for government quota seats and Rs 1000 for management/NRI quota seats. Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission documents required
After submitting the online application form, students will have to send the filled application form along with other required documents to the authorities in an enclosure. Candidates failing to submit the required documents will not be considered for Tamil Nadu MBBS admission.

Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling 2024
DME, is responsible for conducting counselling for Tamil Nadu MBBS 2024 admission to 85% state quota seats and 100% private colleges seats. The counselling of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2024 is conducted in online mode. Authority conducts Four rounds of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling including a mop-up round and a stray vacancy round for vacant seats. During counselling, students are asked to submit their preferences of colleges and courses for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 admission.
Based on the choices filled, state merit rank, NEET score, reservation, and other factors, Tamil Nadu MBBS admission 2024 is granted to eligible candidates. The Authority publishes the Tamil Nadu NEET seat allotment list after each round of counselling. It must be noted that only candidates who qualify the NEET exam are eligible for admission through Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS counselling. Pay the counselling fee of Rs 500 for government colleges and Rs. 1000 for self financing colleges via demand draft in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10”
Download the call letter for Tamil Nadu NEET counselling from the link which will be provided here. Candidates will have to enter their application number and DOB to download the counselling call letter.
The call letter will mention the date and time for counselling of Tamil Nadu MBBS 2024.
Report to the counselling venue as per the schedule.

The Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 seat allotment list mentions the name of the medical/dental colleges allotted, rank, candidates details, total marks, and community.
Candidates who are allotted seats are granted a provisional allotment order for Tamil Nadu MBBS admission.

Tamil Nadu NEET counselling rounds
Two rounds of Tamil Nadu NEET 2024 counselling followed by a mop-up round and a stray vacancy round is conducted.
Candidates who do not report for the first/second round of counselling are not be eligible to participate in the next round of Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling 2024.
Candidates who don't join the allotted seat are not eligible to participate in the subsequent rounds of Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS 2024 counseling.
During the second round of Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling, students have to pay a processing fee of Rs 500/1000 for government/self financing colleges.
Candidates who are wait-listed or allotted seats during round one are not required to pay any fee during round two of Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling 2024.
All candidates who either join or are wait-listed in the first and second round of counselling can participate in the Tamil Nadu NEET 2024 counselling mop-up round.
