Punjab MBBS Admission 2019 - Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) conducts Punjab MBBS 2019 admission for filling UG medical and dental seats in participating colleges. Punjab MBBS/BDS admission is conducted for admission to 85% state quota seats in government and government-aided and all seats in private colleges. The total seat intake in these institutes is around 900 medical and 970 dental seats. Admission will be based on NEET UG scores of the current session. The application form of Punjab MBBS 2019 has opened in online mode from June 19 and can be filled till June 25 using the link provided below. The authority has extended the dates for choice filling of Punjab MBBS counselling for candidates availing admission under micro-reservation. Such candidates will be able to fill choices from July 11 to 12. The seat allotment list will be published on July 16, 2019.

The Punjab MBBS 2019 merit list will be released category-wise, based on the marks obtained in NEET. Please note only those candidates whose name appear in these lists will be eligible for counselling, which will be conducted in online mode for round I, and then offline mode for Round II and manual round.

Punjab MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2019

Applicants seeking admission to UG medical and dental courses have to meet prescribed Punjab MBBS 2019 eligibility criteria. The key eligibility criteria of Punjab MBBS 2019 is that one has to meet age limit, domicile, and academic requirements as explained below:

Eligibility criteria of Punjab MBBS 2019

  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.

  • Domicile: Also, the candidate must be a bonafide resident of Punjab. However, the following candidates can also apply:

    • Candidates who are sons and daughters of late employee of Punjab Government/Central Government/All India Services.

    • Children of late employees of military/ex-military/ paramilitary forces, born in the territory of Punjab.

    • Children of defence personnel posted in Punjab.

    • Minority and NRI candidates may also apply

  • Age limit: The candidate must be no less than 17 years of age as on December 31, 2019. The upper age limit is pending Supreme Court judgement and will be updated shortly.

  • Qualifying exam: The candidate must have passed 10+2 exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, having passed each of these subjects individually. The candidate also needs to score 50% aggregate marks in PCB (or PC-Biotechnology) combination. PwD candidates need 45% marks, while reserved category candidates need only 40% marks.

Further, the candidate also needs to have qualified NEET 2019 as the merit lists for admission will be prepared based on the NEET scores.

Punjab MBBS Application Form 2019

The application form of Punjab MBBS 2019 has been released on June 19, in online mode. Eligible candidates can fill and submit the Punjab MBBS 2019 application form before June 25. The application form filling process includes steps like registration, uploading of documents and payment of application fee.

How to fill application form of Punjab MBBS 2019

  • Registration - The applicant has to first get registered by entering mobile number and email id, name, NEET roll number and AIR, among other details. Upon successful registration, registration number and password will be generated.

  • Payment of application fee - The fee can be paid online through net banking. Also, challan payment is also available, for which the candidate has to first download and take printout of the Bank e-challan which will be generated after registration.

Punjab MBBS 2019 Document Verification

The document verification process will be conducted in offline mode from June 26 to 28, 2019. Candidates who have successfully filled the application form have to report at the assigned document verification centres and get their documents verified.

Candidates who are natives of Punjab are eligible for reservation as per the category they belong to. For example, seats up to the tune of 25% are reserved for SC candidates in government and government-aided institutes.

Punjab MBBS Merit List 2019

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences will release merit lists of Punjab MBBS 2019 separately for different categories on July 1, including for NRI category. Punjab MBBS 2019 merit lists will be prepared based on NEET 2019 scores; so only those candidates who qualify in the national-level exam will be included in the lists. Also, candidates whose names appear in any of the published merit lists will be eligible to participate in the counselling process.

The merit list of Punjab MBBS 2019 will include details like the name of the candidate, registration number, category code, NEET 2019 roll number, marks and rank, and percentile.

Punjab MBBS Counselling 2019

The 1st round of Punjab MBBS 2019 counselling will be conducted in online mode. The second round will be a physical round, meaning candidates have to be physically present for counselling. If there are vacant seats left after two rounds of counselling, a mop-up round may also be held. Punjab MBBS 2019 counselling process is open to only those candidates who are included in the state merit list.

To participate in the counselling process, merit list candidates need to fill the Punjab MBBS 2019 counselling form and then exercise choice filling. The allotment of seats will be based on both the merit rank of the candidate and also choices opted for admission. The first round of Punjab MBBS 2019 seat allotment result will be announced on July 8.

Candidates who are allotted seats will have to report at the allotted institute within the given schedule to complete the admission process.

Hi Lakhyajyoti,

The NEET eligibility criteria states that the candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/BioTechnology and English as core subjects.The qulaifying marks for PCB is 50%-UR, 40%-OBC/SC/ST, 45%-PWD. So yes you are eligible to appear for NEET.

Know the Neet syllabus & what’s important


Study all the chapters taught in class 11 and 12 thoroughly. 70 to 80 percent of the overall questions are either directly taken from NCERT or are an advanced form of its learnings. Before you take on the study effort, go through the previous years' papers, so much so that, you can identify the important topics and concepts. Study those thoroughly, and prioritize these topics before you move to the less important ones.


Make a study strategy


Ensure you make a good timetable that includes solving test papers, regular revisions, and small breaks to help you recuperate and start afresh. Strictly abide by it and allocate more time to difficult subjects. Make it a habit to cover difficult topics along with interesting ones so that preparation does not become monotonous. Keep a track of time as you do not want one chapter to consume time and affect your overall study plan.


Solve test papers


As soon as you complete your syllabus, start solving as many test papers as you can. As the final date approaches, solve 3-4 test papers/mocks tests a day. Try to complete the test papers within the designated time. Demarcate the questions where you made a mistake and identify its cause. Revise all the incorrectly attempted questions well. In this manner, you will be able to understand your weaknesses better and prepare strategically, which is very important for a competitive exam like NEET.


Revise well


Along with your mock test papers take some time out to revise lessons. This should begin after you have completed studying all the lessons. If you are facing difficulty in grasping a certain topic, formula, diagram, etc, prepare a learning aid (like flashcards) and fix it in front of your study table. Do not be overconfident about your preparation and pay attention to the technique applied to crack the question while you’re revising.


Develop your own study technique


Every student will have a different strategy to crack the exam. While preparing for a competitive exam like NEET, follow a study technique that helps you recall your lessons well and allows you to solve the paper in the stipulated time. Follow the one that suits you best and adhere to the pattern till the day of examination. Do not panic and alter your strategy a few days before the exam - this is likely to hamper your preparation and affect your confidence before the examination.
