  • Disease: Chlamydiasis
  • Pathogen: Chlamydia trachomatis
  • Symptoms:
    • Urethritis epididymitis - unilateral scrotal pain, tenderness and swelling
    • Cervicitis
    • Inflammation of fallopian tubes
    • Proctitis - rectal pain with mucus & occasional bleeding
  • Diagnosis:
    • Diagnosis is made through clinical symptoms, gram staining of discharge, antigen detection and nucleic acid hybridization
  • Transmission:
    • Through sexual contact
