NEET 2024 Eligibility Criteria: The National Testing Agency (NTA) describes the NEET eligibility criteria 2024 for the medical aspirants. NEET 2024 eligibility criteria will be released along with the information brochure at the official website i.e. neet.nta.nic.in.

Candidates who will be applying for NEET exam should be acquainted with NTA NEET eligibility criteria 2024. Medical aspirants failing to fulfill the eligibility criteria of NEET 2024 will not be allowed to appear for the entrance examination.

NEET eligibility criteria 2024 specify the percentile, nationality, age limit, etc. required to appear for the exam, which must be fulfilled by every candidate. NEET UG 2024 eligibility criteria: Detailed information

Aspirants fulfilling the below-mentioned eligibility criteria of NEET will be able to fill and submit the application form. NEET is also compulsory for the candidates seeking to study medicine abroad but wish to come back to India for practice.

  • Nationality: Citizens of India, Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), and foreign nationals are eligible to appear for NEET 2024 exam.

  • Qualifying exam for NEET 2024: Candidates must have passed class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects from a recognized board. Also, aspirants must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (for general category) and 40% marks (for SC/ST/OBC/PwD category) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together. Candidates appearing for class 12 are also eligible for NEET 2024.

  • NEET age limit 2024: Candidates must have completed 17 years as on December 31, 2024. The authority has removed the NEET upper age limit. Therefore, candidates above 17 years of age can apply for as many times as they want.

  • NEET qualifying examination codes: While filling the application form, candidates will have to select NEET 2024 qualifying codes, which are described below.

How much percentage required in 12th for NEET?

The 12th percentage required for NEET 2024 is set by NTA. Aspirants who qualify Class 12 with PCB as the core subjects are eligible to appear for NEET exam. NEET eligibility criteria 2024: Qualifying examination codes

  • Code 01: Candidates who will be appearing in the qualifying examination i.e. Class 12 or waiting for the result have to select this code. However, after the announcement of the result if the candidate fails, he/she will not be eligible for the admission. Students have to furnish the relevant documents as evidence of qualifying the examination.

  • Code 02: Candidates who have completed a period of 12 years under Higher/Secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), which is equivalent to Class 10+2 can opt for code 2. However, the last two years of study must include English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, or Mathematics or any other elective as a major subject as prescribed by the National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT). Aspirants who have passed 10+2 from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) or state open school, as a private candidate from state boards; with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject can apply under NEET qualification code 2.

  • Code 3: Medical aspirants who have passed their Intermediate/Pre-Examination degree in Science stream from any recognized Indian University/Board or other body with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as a compulsory subject must opt for code 3. The qualifying examination should also include a practical test in the mentioned subjects.

  • Code 4: This code can be chosen after the completion of pre-professional/pre-medical examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English after passing either the Higher Secondary examination or Pre-university or equivalent exam. The qualification of pre-professional or pre-medical examination should compulsorily include the practical tests in all subjects.

  • Code 5: Candidates who have passed the first year of a bachelor's degree from a recognized university with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology including practical tests must opt for code 5. Candidates should also verify that the first year exam qualified is a university-level exam and they have also qualified Class 12 qualifying examination with the said subjects at a level not less than a core course.

  • Code 6: Any aspirant who has passed B.Sc. examination with not less than two subjects which includes Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry can choose Code 6 from NEET qualification code 2024 as their eligibility code. Further, such candidates must have passed Class 10+2 qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.

  • Code 7: Candidates who have passed any other examination, which is equivalent to the intermediate science examination of any university/board, can opt code 7 as NEET code 2024. It must be taken into consideration that students must have completed two years of study in Physics, Biology/Biotechnology, Chemistry and English and have passed practical tests also.

NEET 2024 eligibility criteria for NRI/Foreign candidates

Candidates who have completed their education from outside the country must fulfill the NEET eligibility criteria. The last examination which has to be passed by NRI/Foreign students should be equivalent to Class 12 qualification in their respective country. Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have passed the theory and practical test in each of these subjects as well as English in the qualifying examination.

NEET eligibility criteria 2024 for BSc Nursing admission

Admission to BSc Nursing courses is granted through NEET scores. Therefore, candidates seeking admission to BSc Nursing courses must check the eligibility criteria from the below mentioned points.

  • Minimum age: Aspirant must be 17 years as of December 31, 2024

  • Qualifying examination: Candidates should have passed Class 12 with physics, chemistry, biology, and English as compulsory subjects
