BAMS:
BAMS is an acronym for Bachelors of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. The main feature that distinguishes BAMS from MBBS is that it includes study involving application of ayurvedic principles to treat patients. The duration of this course is 5 years and 6 months. The course also includes study of modern medicine. The curriculum is divided into three parts along with a one-year compulsory internship. Each part has a different syllabus and is of 18 months. In the first part, History of the Ayurvedic system, Basic principles of Ayurveda, Anatomy and Physiology is covered. The second part includes Toxicology, Pharmacology and Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Science. Modern medicine subjects like Modern anatomy, Principle of surgery, ENT, Skin, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Pediatrics, internal Medicine are in third part.
BDS:
BDS is an acronym for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Candidates who pursue BDS aspire to be a dental surgeon. Dental problems, denture and surgery are various aspects that the degree encompasses. The course duration is 5 years out of which 1 year is for internship. Candidates who complete this course are also awarded the “Dr” title and can practice dentistry after acquiring the license. The syllabus is divided in 4 years or semesters and subjects are related to dentistry.
BUMS:
B.U.M.S. is an acronym for Bachelor of Unani Medicine and surgery. Just like Ayurveda has its roots to Vedic times, the Unani system of medicine is one of the oldest systems in medicine and surgery applied to cure patients. This undergraduate degree program is of 5 years and 5 months duration. 1 year is allotted to internship. The course includes study of application methods of unani system and surgery. Allopathy and the unani system stand opposite to each other. The Unani system of medicine works on the pretext that the body has the power to heal itself. The healing process is done by recognizing this power and enhancing it. This system is based on four natural components that are earth, water, fire, and air. The healing process takes place through the natural power of the body.
BNYS:
BNYS is an acronym for Bachelor of Naturopathy and yogic sciences. Stress is the root cause of most of the diseases. Hence, Naturopathy emphasizes the body's healing capability. The aim is self-healing by detoxification of the body and increasing immunity. BYNS professionals watch symptoms and reactions of their patients closely and provide a treatment which is highly personalized. Emotional predispositions, biomechanics and biochemistry aspects of the patient are involved in the treatment. BYNS is a 4.5-year academic course along with a compulsory 1-year internship. Subjects that are taught include History of Naturopathy, Pathology, Nutrition, First Aid, Medical Jurisprudence, Management of Health Problems etc.
BHMS:
BHMS is an acronym for Bachelor of Homeopathic medicine and surgery. This discipline of medicine like B.U.M.S. and BYNS emphasizes the body's self-healing capability. Homeopathy is a niche in the mass courses of medicine. The subjects in this course provide knowledge about homeopathy.

MD:

There is a provision to pursue PHD in any field that attracts the candidates. Completion of PHD takes around 3-5 years. However, candidates need to submit their thesis proposal in the pre PHD phase that is of 6 months.
DM:
DM is an acronym for Doctor of Medicine. This is a super specialty degree in the field of medicine. The duration of this course is 3 years.
