Undergraduate course (BVSc)
Candidates must have passed class 12 or another equivalent exam with 50% aggregate (for general category) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects.
Candidates must be of 17 years of age as on December 31 of the applying year. Maximum age limit for general category candidates is 22 however, that for SC/ST and Physically challenged candidates is 25 and 27 years respectively.
Postgraduate course (MVSc)
Candidates must be BVSc & AH qualified with a minimum CGPA of 6.00 out of 10 for general category and 5.00 out of 10 for SC/ST/PH candidates.
The upper age limit is 40 years and for In-service candidates it is 45 years.

The authority releases a merit list mentioning the names, roll number, ranks and other details of the qualified candidates.
Qualified candidates are called for manual counselling conducted by the authority.
